B&H don't do pre-orders. The best way to get stuff from B&H is by phone at around 11am eastern time. Any new camera's that arrive aren't in the system when they first open at 9 but by 10.30 to 11am they are. If you call in an order with a credit card you will be ahead of the mail order dept (aka internet order). Don't even bother with email verification. Its the same with the 5DM2. They get some more units in, they show up in the inventory, an hour later they are back to zero. You just got to call every day (not saturday) around the same time. ---- this is advice given to me staff working there in sales

Should I just cancel my PannyDirect order and get a refund. Then set up an order with B&H or ?
If I had ordered back on the 23rd of June from a dealer, I would have my camera, however stupid me; I thought since Panny makes GH1, it was in stock at the time of order, and they come out of the same warehouse in IL it would come first or at least the same time they shipped to dealers.. Should I cancel or not?
Any opinions?

I would keep the order with panny direct and call B&H every day at around 10.45am. If B&H come through call Panny and cancel that order immediately. Be careful and check with Panny every day as they filled my order and shipped to me without notifying me. I almost ended up with two cams
Not necessarily true. I ordered from 4 dealers on June 20 and 21 and still don't have a camera.
As if that would be a bad thing. :2vrolijk_08:

just an update... I have tracking number for GH1 package confirmed and it is "In-Transit" to arrive tomorrow.

Just got off the phone with B&H and was able to place a pre-order for the camera. I was informed that they do not take pre-orders after a camera has been released, but only after they have had they camera in stock, which they have had. He told me that they had them in stock for about a day and a half. I don't understand this, because I checked every day sometimes multiple times per day. It would seem that the email notification is probably useful only if they have a large stock. Never got it.
It was also mentioned that they reserve the right to stop taking pre orders at any time. It was stated that a preorder puts you in the queue as soon as the item is in stock.
Hmmmm...We will see.

Just spoke with Adorama, I've had a pre-order with them since May 17. They're saying that the GH1's won't be in until July 27th.
Christ... I leave for a month long shoot on July 31st, I was really hoping to have it for that trip. Changed the shipping to next day, but I don't even know if that will be enough. This is so freaking ridiculous, I wish I could sue Panasonic for all the undue stress they've caused!

I think they got tired of many people calling about this camera not to mention the ones that call them every morning to check the stock.
The irony is if they took pre-orders they'd probably be getting fewer calls.

You should definitely order from a few places like JR, BH (if they still take preorder) and Vann (used to take preorder). fudge Panasonic direct, I don't think they'll ever have in stock, even if they do they might screw up all pre orders.
