FYI I have no ties to Abel Cinetech.
I concur with SpecialEdFx regarding Abel Cinetech. I have purchased from them before, and was very pleased with the experience.
Spoke with Charles in the NY office this morning. They have an order in with Panasonic. He can tell you what place you will be on the list when you call, and their list is very short. I have already received an email from him with my number on the list along with the quote.
Charles said in the past, they have always dealt with video and film, and he said they are seeing this as what's coming up ahead and the GH1 is their first DSLR offering.
He does have an estimated date of arrival, but it really is of no use to mention that, as dates are all over the place.
I asked if it was ok that I post regarding this and he said it was ok. I feel good about supporting a dealer like Abel, and even though ultimately Panasonic gets the money, I'd rather my dollars go through Abel than Pana Direct.

Hi, hope this info might me useful to someone. Ordered mine from panny direct on June 17th, just got tracking number and status. As of now it is out for delivery so I should have it today. All I can say is don't give up and have patience.

I'm a little concerned though, it's a grey market cam- w/ no warranty...yikes- I hope it holds up!

Henry's gave me a quote of about $1,650 I believe. I haven't received an email confirmation quite yet so I'll double check.

That's what my math says. According to the guys at Henrys the credit card company does the conversion, they just charge it in CA $

it's funny you should mention that Saaby- in my research of this particular grey market version workflow, I remember something about ..click- wind, wind, wind click- wind, wind, wind...
and something about having to send it out for "pre-image sequence development"... but not to worry, b/c of a quick turnaround of 7-10 business days or something like this, (more if it's B/W).
and then something like needing a scanner for "further pre-image sequence preperation".
and I'm sure you get the rest... so yeah, something like 1sec. @24fps of built in memory sounds about right...
still can't find the mic input though- definitely not happy w/ that...
Dang!!! I wonder how much I could get for my black Canadian NTSC model? I'm done with my shoot in Vermont and I'm now back in Colorado. My next shoot isn't for another three weeks.
Sell mine on Ebay for $2K and hope to pick up another one before August 1st? Hmmmm. Seems a little risky.

Honestly, from the way it's looking, if I needed the camera I wouldn't sell it for anything. Risky is an understatement. lol
A Japanese NTSC model (Ebay) and Henry's are probably the two most solid places to grab them from. When I put my .JP one up it got sold to someone overseas immediately. The other Japanese ones that were up went in a matter of a day and the Red Pal one went in an auction. I'm pretty sure if it had a buy it now it would've gone the first day.
Barry was right, in the end: it's going to be hard to get one of these things. How often is Barry wrong though?
