GH1 Shipping Today! According to Panasonic Sales Rep

here's conspiracy theory for ya. i am living in san diego and have a order in june 1 with panasonic.com that went to shopatronic that is supposed to get me camera june 24. tomorrow i go to michigan. i will make an order from there ans see if i get lucky. maybe they determine your geo location via IP address!!!!!!!!! everyone freakin now!?
 
just made my order through panasonic direct.. june 4th.. not through shopatronic as far as i can tell... was able to check order status online without adding the shopatronic prefix. i am from Seattle :)

strangely though haven't received confirmation e-mail yet.
 
I was going to order through Panasonic Direct, but you have to pay tax from them. Trust me on this -- Panasonic will not fill all of its own orders before sending any cameras to its dealers. In the long run, Panasonic Direct accounts for a very very tiny percentage of their business. They're not going to alienate the few dealers and retail outlets they have (compared to Canon and Nikon, for example) by gorging themselves before fulfilling their commitments to their dealers.

From reading everything here and talking to several dealers direct, I think the first shipments to dealers are scheduled to go out today, to be available on Monday. I think the trick to getting a camera is ordering from a retailer before they sell out their initial allotment. It sounds like Amazon has sold out its first several allotments, so I would look somewhere else.
 
mine has officially been sent out. check status and has ups tracking number. sched delivery is on the 9th, but it looks like it is en route.

sorry, Shopatron handled my Michigan order.
 
just called panasonic direct this morning and they say that the 1st shipment of the pre-orders have been shipped out and that they don't have much in stock at the moment. so they're waiting for another shipment before fulfilling the next batch of pre-orders. i should've pre-ordered through them instead of through amazon. grr.
 
just called Adorama - where I canceled my May 19 pre-order in favor of a June 3 Panasonic -direct order - and they are quoting an arrival of GH1 on 22 June.
 
yeah, i've been hunting around as well but Panasonic Direct has no info before you order if a - they charge your card before shipping and b - when they are shipping (other than "June")

I see u r in ann arbor. I am visiting michigan this weekend and will try to have them order for me to see if I can get around shopatron june 24
 
I got my order in on June 3 too (and May 3 @ J&R... grrr) I'm in Ann Arbor too... What gives? :Drogar-Shock(DBG):
 
I ordered on 5/15, which was the first day that I saw when Panasonic direct started accepting preorders. It showed ships in late May when I ordered it. It seems some who ordered after 5/15 were already shipped.

What's also curious to me is how some placed their preorders with Panasonic direct in April. I'd been checking obsessively every day since late April. 5/15 was when I first saw that preorder started. Their ordering system is so messed up.

I ordered 5/15 too and I'm quite sure that nobody was able to pre-order from PanasonicDirect before then. They had left a "Pre-Order" button on the page but when you went through the process it would simply say that the product is not available for sale yet. 5/15 was the first day that it was possible to actually place the order for me too.
 
Congratulations Super. So Jealous right now. I wonder what the deal is with these shipments and how certain people are getting theirs already.
