Probably an earlier (and small) shipment that is now sold out? The 16th is the earliest for next shipment, confirmed twice.
I've got next day shipping on two cameras... hopefully going out the 16th! :beer:

How does it not make sense? I'd agree it may be unhelpful, as there's really not a way to find out which of those dates your order will be shipped on.

btw, shopatron says all kinds of stuff, so those of you that ordered on or around june 1 from panasonic direct, their orders are fulfilled by shopatron, not panasonic. my order number does not even work with panasonic even though i ordered from them. and shopatron will send you a email and say your camera will be there in 2 days (if you chose 2 day) and then next morning send you an email saying it will be 2-4 weeks, and if you call they are saying june 24.
damnit, ridiculous. i called around and put another order in with adorama. guy there is saying he does not have tons of orders ahead of me and he is getting cameras from panasonic june 7. so for those of you willing to take a risk and put in two separate orders maybe you can put one in with adorama and see. he does not guarantee he will get his entire order but at least if he gets a few you will get a camera.

Are you saying that some orders placed at panasonic.com are fulfilled by one company and others are filled by a different company?
I ordered mine on May 22nd from panasonic.com and as when I got done ordering I could see that it was via shopatron. Were there orders made on panasonic.com that didn't get a "Panasonic Order Confirmation" that had shopatron.com as a return email address?
In just the last 2 days panasonic has told people things like:
- we have them in stock and they're shipping
- we don't have them in stock and they're not shipping
- we think we're going to get them by next week
- we have no idea when we're going to get them
- cameras were shipped monday and delivered today
So when we know that cameras have been delivered already but then get a report from panasonic implying that the first shipment won't go out until June 16th, it seems to not make sense.
There's obviously a bit of misinformation out there. I'm not saying that your information is incorrect but the fact is that people are being told wildly difrerent things.

yes that is what i am saying. people posted a jpg of their order from panasonic last night on this forum so i tried to put my order number in at panasonic and it does not work. says no order found in system. i called shopatron and they say, yea they fulfill order, not panasonic so panasonic won't know my order number (which is true, they don't know it). i call panasonic, they say that is true. what happened is they reached their allocation already, and now, they send out new orders to warehouses that will get the camera first, in my case shopatron. shopatron, the day after I ordered, send me an email saying i would get my camera in two days, then next day they sent me an email (this morning) saying it is backordered and i have to wait 2-4 weeks. as soon as Panasonic gets new cameras, they send to shopatron, and shopatron sends to me.
but if you can get to another retailer who is getting cameras before shopatron, then good. that is what i am tryhing to do. could be that adorama will get a few (as they claim), or maybe fry's electronics or someone like that.

Haha. I can see how that is confusing.
FWIW, My order was placed May 26th, and is being fulfilled by Panasonic, not "Shopatron".

Just read a post that advised possibly trying Adorama as they are quoting 7th.
I also got a rep to quote me the 7th two days ago (on an order placed 5/19), when I called back today in my obsessive search for grains of info, they told me they weren't getting GH1 till 23rd June.
Based on the shipping timetable posted in this thread it seems to check out, so I ordered from Panasonic in hopes of getting it when the main shipment goes out.
could be faulty logic but I'm a bit crazed right now.

Rep says, "I'm sorry sir, but our system says the item will be available next week."
Me, "So does that mean my order is going to ship next week?"
Rep replies, "I can't say. All I know is that the camera will be released next week."
Me, "So are you saying that this camera hasn't shipped at all?"
Rep, "Yes sir, they haven't shipped at all."
So this just goes to show that they have no clue what they're talking about leaving me even more confused.

I guess the strangeness continues. If what rubberbandito is saying is correct, and I have no reason to believe it isn't, then it seems odd that your May 26th order is from Panasonic but my May 22nd order was from Shopatron. Can you go back and look at the confirmation email you got.
At the bottom of the confirmation email I got from Panasonic on the morning of May 22nd, it says:
And at the top it says:
That 1-877# is for shopatron. Does your email say those things or does it list a different phone# and a different "charged as" line?

my order that i placed with panasonic direct on May 27th says nothing about shopatron not even in the email. and btw that email came from: specialty@us.panasonic.com

i think shopatron has a automated system, so they get the order, and they send an email as if they already had camera in stock, saying it will get to you in the shipping time you chose (in my case 2 days), but then they realize they (or panasonic) don't have the camera to get to you, so they send you a new email saying it will be 2-4 weeks. it sucks i know!
i waited on the fence till june 1 because i thought since it was on preorder i could get one once it said order. i was wrong looks like. seems like people that order before mid may are getting their cameras and those after not necessarily (after a roller coaster ride from shopatron)

No worries, there are a lot of people in this thread who will rush over and pry the GH1 from your cold dead hands. It will end up in a good home!
WTF? If I hadn't cancelled my May 22nd order, I'd be really pissed off about that.
Did you order normally through the website or call it in? Did you have a "Panasonic Direct" account already? A "Panasonic Direct" financing card?
I don't understand why that would happen. Luck of the draw? I'm going to go place another order and see what happens.
