GH1 or G2

I'm new to the DSLR world and trying to decide between the GH! and G2. With the new hacks will the G2 perform as well as or close to the GH1?

At this point, there are still some glitches in hacking the G2, though the core bitrate and manual mode patches appear to work correctly. However, one or more of the patches ported from the GH1 can cause the G2 to fail to start video recording in both AVCHD and MJPEG modes. I expect these issues will be ironed out in the coming weeks.

In terms of video features, there are clear-cut advantages on both GH1 and G2 sides. If 1920x1080, 24p, or 60p are requirements, the G2 won't do. For 1280x720 @ 30p, however, the G2 offers many of the features offered on the GH2, including touch-screen focusing and 3X tele-cropping modes. In other respects, the G2 operates much like the GF1, and I find the accessibility of its controls more convenient than those on the GH1.

I've also been successful in hacking the G2 to produce anamorphic 1920x810 MJPEG videos, which can be used either with anamorphic adapters, or stretched in post to 1920x1080 @ 30p. For more info on this patch see the following link:

No, none of the Panasonic G-series cameras offer that mode.

Judging on your response are you sure you didn't mean the GH-2?

No i meant the G2. i know the Gh2 is a much better camera, but I'm hoping I can get by with the G2 but not crazy about the lack of 24p.
