Hey all,

Don't know this guy but I just purchased a Canon FD adapter for my GH1 on eBay.

Price was under $40 with free shipping out of NY state.

The adapter is all metal, solid and well built. I'm quite pleased with it.

I won't pimp him but I will give you the link if you pm me.

He has adapters for many different lenses and at, frankly, cheap prices. Most are under $40 and free shipping.

As I said, my Canon FD adapter is solid and if that's any indication then the rest of his lens adapters will be of a similar quality.

I'm thinking of Nikon adapter next, perhaps.

Anyway, as I said, interested? pm me....or check my sig for a hint. ;)

sincerely,

ian

What about Nikon lens'? Will it work for them? Thanks.

He also has adapters for Nikon F ($70 CDN incl shipping) and Nikon AI ($41 incl shipping) lenses.

Then he has them for Leica M, Leica M39, Olympus OM, Contax C/Y, M42 mount and more.

The Canon FD mount I picked up is solid and the price was half of what some are charging WITH free shipping to me up here in America's Hat.©

Check him out by..um.. finding his name in my sig. ;) heh.

sincerely,

ian

I also got my adpater from R*inb*ow and it works great. It also has a dial on it so that you can open/close the apeture w/out any clicks.

I purchased one from HK but I keep getting an error

"Please check that the lens is attached correctly"

if I press the front dial the picture appears and I can adjust apature & focus but when I press the shutter the error comes back

any ideas? or have I bought a dud - I've got a few nice FD lenses I'm eager to try out

No no no -- you're fine. You need to look through your menus. I have neither my camera nor my book in front of me, but there's an option to "Shoot without lens attached". You need to enable that.

I think you need to have the camera in a mode other than Red-Auto mode, and then go to probably the Wrench menu.

The camera is looking for a computerized lens. Since the lens adaptor is just a hunk of metal, it can't 'talk' to the camera, so the camera thinks there's no lens attached.

I don't understand the "aperture control ring" on the rainbow imaging FD adapter... the ceiclo one doesn't seem to have one. Don't FD lens have their own manual aperture control? I want to order an FD adapter ASAP and prefer to get one quicker from a U.S. vendor but don't want to get the wrong one... there seem to be a lot more Ebay vendors selling GH1 adapters all of the sudden. What's the best model that y'all have come across from all these new vendors?

Hey lux,

I'm at work right now but I'll play with my adapter when I get home tonight and clarify what the aperture control ring does.

Thanks! I noticed in shzr's post that it perhaps allows for aperture control without the click-stops? so it gives you a smooth, continuous aperture control as opposed to preset stops? hopefully you can do it either way, I would kinda like the stops so that I don't accidentally change it during shooting.
