GH1 Hackable cameras starting to go up in price?

I currently own 7 x GH13 (4x gold, 1x red, 2x black) which are in my opinion the best dslr on the market... why? I hear you cry... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ lot ands lots...I run a commercial production house and these babies have paid for themselves a hundred times over...
I do a lot of remote location corporate work for big companies in the oil, gas and minerals sector, since I stumbled onto these my whole way of filming and equipment kit has changed radically....
You know the funny thing, I have never been asked by a corporate client ' what format, what camera ,what bit rate or codec am I shooting in', they just want to see great vision and the GH13 has produced chrystal clear, razor sharp images every time...
I also use a photoshop post technique to actually soften and saturate the final images which produce results I cannot get on any video camera under $50K.....
I shoot at 50mbps native checked with no issues at all, some of the remote locations I travel to are up to 55 deg C with dust everywhere.. the GH1 never lets me down, no overheat issues ever....to give a quick example I hung a GH1 all over massive digging equipment with a fat gecko mount to get shots that just blew my clients away, I could never do this with a conventional camera... the 7-14mm lens is my best buddy for the trips..I do stuff now that 12 months ago I could only dream about...I will get a GH2 eventually but I don't see it producing the images of the GH13 for PAL 25fps....
The other advantage is weight, I can fly with a 2x pelican cases containing 3x GH13s, 14mm,20mm,7-14mm,14-140mm,70-200mm, Nikon 50mm, 70-200, plus accessories fat gecko etc..I have a tripod bag which I also fit a Kessler slider for the amazing slide reveal shots....
All this gear comes in at 38kg... 12 months ago I needed road cases and 78Kg to do same gig.....And yet I command the same rates as when I was lugging broadcast gear around.....
I am now looking at a Mikrokopter for arial work, the GH13 will be the perfect cam for this...

I think some guys on this forum need to stop nagging each other about the GH1 v GH2 and just get out and enjoy this technology..

Cheers all,

Truestory...

+1042 for this post. Man and I thought I was crazy with 3 of em. 7!!!! Wowzers.

+another few thousand for the simple fact that clients don't ask about pixels and aliasing - they just go WOW... WOOOOW!!! WOOOOOOW!!!!

I exaggerate not. I think I have one GH13 recording while someone watches the footage of the GH13 on a nice crispy 42 inch rgb led monitor.

I actually had 14 x GH1 at one stage but due to my generous nature I relented and sold 7 to various friends and camera guys who were not tech savvy and wanted in on the action after seeing my results...

If you are making a living from this work do the sums, Approx $650 for a GH1 body, this is a joke when you consider what it cost me to kit up with HM700s, HM100s, EX3s etc...

A 5 day shoot at $1000 per day pays for these in no time, plus if you drop one or some low life steals one or two, you still have backup..pretty cheap insurance in my book...
Personally I believe the GH1 will be around for a while, if the hack for GH2 surfaces then great but if this camera becomes the only hackable model in the panny line up then they will still command good money if you ever want to sell...

My advice is buy as many of these as you can get your little claws on, remember they don't make them anymore so in 20 years time they will be still used for the retro look shoots of the future.....

on a completely different note..... I have seen some great shots with the mikrokopter, however most are using a 5D which comes in over 1 kg so the fly time is shorter, a GH13 with 14mmf2.5 has total weight of 660gm so the new heavy lift motors are idling to lift this payload,,
plus you get the benifit of fabulous images and no need to worry about sensor overheat on a 15 minute flight...
I think the GH13 was made to go with the mikrokopter, it's a pity not many people have used this combo, finding videos shot with GH13 are pretty rare at present.....

cheers
