Shot this back in Noveber in Austin, TX. Sending it out to all the bis film festivals right now. Realize that a horror film might not be everyone's bag on here, but it's a GH1 feature film. Thought you might be interested. You can visit the website for more info, and watch the trailer below below: http://ididntcomeheretodie.com/

I really dig the look you achieved in your shots, it reminds me of "Evil Dead" or "Last House on the Left"-the originals shot in 16mm-can you describe your setting and workflow and equipment-I think you really got a cool image and as you can tell Horror/Experimental IS my thing!

Wow this is great, felt like I was watching 'The Descent' which I liked very much except instead of gollums we got booze? Very nice shots except that part where the tour guide is talking to the crew coming out of the van is rather disengaging. Weird how on watching I instantly thought you musta used Super 16/ CCTV lenses for those shots but on the rewatch I didn't see any vignetting. I guess 70's film and vignetting is synonymous with me. What lens was used for low light though I have to ask.

Cool poster work though, very L4D.

Nice job on a number of your shots - please keep posting, we need more threads with folks who are using the GH1 to make real content!

Thanks for all the talkback folk! Good to have a dialogue going.

The 70's vibe was definitely intentional. The movie minus the color correction is really a completely different film. We grained it up a ton, and messed with the color pallet. In a way I feel like we didn't do the GH1 justice because the raw picture was so crisp. But the goal was to make it look like someone found this film shot in the 70's, and then cut it together with today's mentality.

Besides the stock lens, I had two Canon FD lenses. A 50mm 1.8/f and 28mm 2.8/f. We didn't really do too much low-light shooting. All the night scenes are day-for-night. I really just busted out the 1.8/f when the sun was nearly down, and we had to finish the scene. Which happen every day because we shot the whole feature in 7 days.

Thanks for looking and commenting. Nice to have people immediately think "Evil Dead" or "the Descent". Both some of my favorite horror film. The ones I made the crew watch before we made this (as they resemble the film the closest) were:

The Ruins
Cabin Fever
Shallow Grave
All The Boys Love Mandy Lane
High Tension

I didn't do the color correction myself. If you have some technical questions about it, this the the guy that did it: http://twitter.com/robotika_org.

He did do all the color correction in Apple Color, but that's about the extent of the technicality of it I know.

That looks like a lot of fun. Looks good. You gotta love the killer in the wood flicks. We shot one and the 'skeeters kick our butt.
