All this talk about the upcoming Noktor lens made me want to do some superfast videography.
I went out scouting locations today for my upcoming feature project and took the GH1 and my bag of lenses with me - ended up doing some low-light shooting of ducks in a pond. I'm not a wildlife photographer by trade so go easy on me
- Everything here was shot with a Canon FL 55mm f/1.2 at f/1.2 except for the second shot which was done with a Canon FD 135mm f/2.5 at f/2.5 before it got darker. The f/1.2 footage was shot on ISO 640-800 - the 135mm f/2.5 footage at ISO 1000.
Shot at 1080/24 transcoded to Cineform, edited in Vegas Pro 9 - quickly edited with minor color adjustment, sharpening, etc., but not a very thorough edit or treatment that I would do for a real project - this was just for fun. These scenes also pushed the codec pretty hard, but all in all it worked out well enough.
So anyone wondering whether or not a f/.95 lens could be useful...I definitely would have liked more speed - yeah shooting this wide open is a bit soft but, you know, you can get some cool looking shots just the same.
