GH1 and GF1 valid serial range

Just bought my 2nd GH1.
Ordered a body only from Bristol camera Shop in the UK, for £378 Brand new. They had to get the camera in for me. The guy in the shop, brought out a full kit box and took out the 14-140 lens. Anyway, serial number,
WE9KB001114 WITH 1.2 FIRMWARE?????. THIS camera is older than the one I bought last year, serial number WE0FD001083 with 1.32 firmware. The guy also said there was another customer who had ordered the same as myself due to the good price. It could well be that very old stock that was being kept back due to the hack are now being sold due to the introduction of the GH2? Just a guess. Anyway, heads up on the Bristol shop, great service.

To be honest, I did not expect to get a older camera, I just love the GH! as it is (I have not even hacked my older camera yet). I wanted to get a GH2 body, the the prices are still a little too high for me. You can check with them, but as they have to order the camera in from wherever, they probably do not even know what is going to come in. Their website is,

I wanted to get another body just do try out filming a guitar player with two cameras from different angles. As you can imagine, I'm a happy camper. The camera is brand new etc.

I phoned the shop last week, and said I would like to buy a body only (came with battery, charger etc etc). When I went to pick up the camera he said that they had two in for me and another customer. My camera was taken out of a full kit box which I found surprising. More surprised when I found a old serial number and also a 1.2 firmware. Whether they are ordering them in from Panasonic themselves, I don't know, but with the introduction of the GH2, it could well be that old stock GH1's that were being held back for one reason or another are now being released to be sold off. Your guess is as good as mine. When I phoned the shop, the website said that the bodies were available, as it still does so IMHO, there would be no problem. GReat servicr from the shop and very friendly. It is the first time I have used the shop and no doubt will use them again,

Sorry if I write here too but I'm in a hurry..

Hi found a brand new GH1 (the last one at the shop) with serial number WE09 so it should be ok.

The shop doesn't permit to me to check the firmware version through the temporay service menu.
Is it sufficient checking the firmware version via the plain SETUP menu > Version DISP?

Didnt mean to hijack this thread but a lots of people asking where to get and having a hard time getting one. Wow! No excitement or discussion of Vitaliy's upcoming release of a 2011 GH1 body hack??? Vitaliy is the man! Can't wait to try out his 2011 body hack on my recently purchased GH1. Better buy em while you can guys! The new GH1s just became twice as valuable :)

Hi! I have 2 questions for the comunity.

1. Is it any possibility to view photos at camera disk during shooting process like Canon and Nikon cameras? When I connect cable to USB port the camera turns to drive mode and stucks.
2. Is it any possibiliry to see live-view via HDMI cable on external monitor during video-recording. Each time I start rec the hdmi-out switches-off

1. yes-in setup, page 3, change USB Mode to "PC". If that doesn't work-change it to "select on connection"-that should give you the option of choosing whether the camera appears as a hard drive, or if you want some other software to open up when the camera is connected. I'm speaking strictly of Windows/Vista-I know nothing about Mac's.
2. No, there is no possibility that the HDMI out will ever be capable of producing a signal while recording. If you want that-buy the GH2.
