I think the canon 1D already sees more light then the human eye.Technology's advancing too fast, soon we'll be able to shoot HDR video or something. Prob have sensors seeing more light then the human eye
There's no comparison there, however, I think it'll show just how close the two are when in tip top shape.
So I saw this discussed on another thread and thought it could be talked about here as soon as kholi gets this going.
I'd say resolution chart shots would be much more informative as well as color charts to show us what is really going on rather than random shots where the quality difference is up to the viewer and less scientific. Gh1 hack looks promising and I would be interested to see how it matches up to red but the test would have to be done right otherwise it's just pointless.
Hi-
I recently shot a promo trailer for a horror feature with a RED (not mysterium tho)
http://www.nightscapemovie.com
and having now shot a mess of random stuff with my (hacked) GH1 I can very unscientifically say that the GH1 footage is so damn close in quality as to be not worth nitpicking. For me the big difference would be in the ergonomics of each camera and suitability of use in a professional production environment, and the robustness of the files when it comes to post color correction and image manipulation.
The real test would be in comparing the two in a theater sized projection.
