GH! - Shooting a time lapse

Hi,
I am filming a short film whre I have a time-lapse for about 5 to 10 seconds. My understanding that a way to do this would be to consistently take a still photo of my timelapse scene every 2 seconds (with each photo being one frame and at 25 fps per second, I'd need to have a total of 125 photos to run a 5 second time-lapse). However, this would be a lot easier if the GH1 had an interval timer function (ie. the camera is set to automatically take a photo every "x" amount of seconds). Does anybody know if there is an alternate method to acheive this, such as setting a particular shutter speed in motion picture mode and editing the footage into a time lapse in post?
Thanks

Ok,
So does the external remote allow me to use an interval timer function control for my GH1?
Or is it just a case that I have to consistently take a still photo every 2 or 3 seconds?

You can tell the timer to take a set number of pictures every number of time. If your dial is set to multiple exposure or timer mode then this will happen. I don't see why you would want to do this, but you can.

You can buy an external remote that has an interval timer built in. I know they make a lot of them for the Canon DSLRs so there might be one out there for the GH1. Weird video frame rates won't work because the camera compresses the footage into a set frame rate wrapper and makes up filler frames to fill in the extra space.

i have a cheap chinese intervalometer that works on both my gf1 and gh2. should be no problem. can find them on ebay.

You can also shoot (in creative movie mode with manual focus and exposure) video down to 2FPS if you use a 1/2 second shutter. It is still recording 24 FPS but since it's a Long GOP codec that data is quite small and if you keep it Long GOP in post the file stay small...say asomething like 80 minutes for 4 gigs. You then can speed up the video on your computer. For better or for worse the 1/2 second shutter gives you a lot of light and that slow shutter motion blur effect. Not sure what happens if you combine this with built in undercrank feature, or if that works at all with this.

So I ordered the timer on eBay. One of the guys on here used the same brand but the wireless version and it was compatible with the gh2 but it was originally made for the gh1. Pretty much you set the manual settings on the camera (maybe the device too) and dial in the time intervals on the external device. Click the shutter button and it's good to go. I bought the cheaper version because I like the bungee cord but its the same as the $75 version except that it takes a longer time to get shipped.

Has anyone had a go doing this away from AC power using, say, a truck battery and a DC converter of some sort to power the camera? If so, a few details/links would be appreciated.
