GH-1 vs. t2i - bring it!!

Resolve less, true, but coatings can be different, explaining the purple tinge you're pointing out, which usually is a lens issue. and I don't think the DOF/focus point is the same on each camera, the DOF on the Canon is slightly shallower and the focus point to my eyes still looks a few inches behind the GH1.

It looks out of focus because it is upres'd SD :D

Zacuto just produced the DSLR shootout. While the GH1 holds up well it is outperformed by the T2i. Check out the tests for your self on the Zacuto page. The GH1 is a good cam but gets outperformed by the T2i and for less money.

lol, panny apologists fly in to stick up for an obviously inferior product.

What else do you guys want? It just didnt hold up, its not a bad camera though, and no one ever said it was.

Quit disseminating bad information and just let what the professionals have taken the time and money to give you speak for itself.

Where is the T2i comparison???

I am not calling you a slap happy canon follower am I? Have the same respect for others opinions.

The Canon looks like video on this comparison, over sharpened and aliasing like mad, its a long way behind the filmic look Bloom et al crave. Round 1 and round 2 imo to the GH1. Next time lets see some proper tests, equiv f stops, distance from subject and equiv focal lengths. This will prove many things, GH1 is easily the equal of these oversized monsters, has better inherent sensitivity(iso 200 on GH1 is the equiv of iso 400 5d/7d etc) has an evf, can af, has a swivel lcd, etc etc. As for stills, same applies in the correct setting it can equal these cameras.

Please Panasonic, GH2, 28mb(or better) 1080-60p, 12-60 f2.5-2.8 zoom af is, live view out, sound monitor.

The zacuto shootout was weird. Especially the chart test. Why was the gh1 out of focus with a lit of weird stuff going on with the image. It didn't look professionally done.

Some don't need to shoot that long - but in the event you need too its obvious the victor.

All my projects lately were long record times, it most definitely would have been another headache.

Hey guys... I'm doing some pre-purchase research and the last item that I came to a dilemma between the GH1 and the T2i is resolution of the LCD screen.

Is it anything that I should worry about in the GH1?

Any other things that I should consider that I'm not aware that would favor the T2i?

http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon_EOS_Rebel_T2i-vs-Panasonic_Lumix_DMC-GH1

This site says the difference between the LCDs is huge!

(T2i) 1,040k dots vs 460k dots (GH1)

Thank you all very much.

I am not crazy about the GH1 screen resolution, its OK for shooting video... but a little under par when it comes to pictures. You do however get an articulating LCD that you can see at any angle AND you can switch to the eye piece if you want - BOTH much more practical for shooting video and something no canon has...

If you are taking pix and its important - you would prob want the t2i, well really the 7D.

And would you say the focus assist pretty much covers for the LCD slight lower resolution?

Well... I'm almost definitely going for the GH1 now.

The fixed LCD of the 7D is really a limitation... I'm experiencing this now since I'm using it for a short.

:)

There's focus assist on both cameras, but I would say the GH1's is far more useful. - Tim

P.S. I have both cameras sitting next to me, and have been moving a MF Nikkor 55mm f/1.2 lens back and forth between them for the past week or so to judge the differences.

GH1 has a very functional focus assist which is a must to use on all DSLRs since you cant zoom in and focus like traditional video cameras.

Not to mention the GH1(3) hack puts an edge on the 7D anyways... I have yet to do it - but its on the to do list.
