GH-1/Fotodiox Nikon adapter/Nikkor 35mm frustration...

I picked up the GH-1 last fall and I've been using the kit lens up to this point. I was looking to find a fast lens and ended up purchasing the Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm from Amazon. I needed an adapter, so I picked up the Fotodiox Nikon m4/3 adapter from Amazon, as well. I received the lens and adapter today (May 15), but I'm frustrated because everything coming through the viewfinderon the camera seems to be extremely blurry and dark. I'm new to photography, but have done videography for years. It's my understnding that Panasonic says that certain functions of the GH-1 won't work with certain lenses. Has anyone experienced issues with this particular lens and/or adapter with the GH-1? I'd like some feedback in regards to a replacement lens/ adapterbefore I send this back to Amazon. Thanks! BTW, I was interested in this Nikkor lens for an upcoming wedding where I'm taking pictures.

What dial were you using? Iso? Aperture? Shutter? White balance? You might want a nikon lens that has manual aperture adjustment.

Without the right kind of adapter (with aperture control) DX lenses will default to whatever the most closed down f/stop is, so probably f/22 or thereabouts. You either need a different adapter or a Nikon lens with a physical aperture ring. IMO these are much better suited for video than the DX stuff anyway - and if you buy manual focus AI lenses, you'll save a lot while still getting top quality glass. As a bonus, the GH1 can still meter through the lens.

I use a Nikon Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G lens on my GH1 and it's nothing short of amazing. I purchased an adapter from eBay in order to mount the Nikon G Lens to the m4/3 GH1. It fit perfectly but couldn't get the aperture to adjust (thus producing some extremely low light and unusable video, this is AFTER applying tester13's hack). After a bit of seeing exactly WHAT is used to adjust aperture on the lens, I refit the adapter (make sure the nail is pressing against the aperture tab on the Nikon - DO NOT REMOVE THE NAIL) it worked perfectly.
