1080p MJpeg - i think is upscaled

Hi! I was wondering if you could hack a Japanese GF1? Even the menu's language? Many thanks in advance! cheers!

Yes, you can chose the interface-language of the camera in ptool.
Thus you can turn your GF1's japanese menu into ... lets say swedish... or german or english (there are more language-options available, than I am willing to list here now... just check ptool yourself).

Awesome! thanks for the quick reply buddy! Cheers!

Someone please correct me but everything I've read points to this being the case. For video the GF1 is almost the same tool as the GH1 after the hack, minus a slightly less cropped FOV with the GH1 and manual shutterspeed.

GH1 apparently has better dynamic range, noise performance, less rolling shutter (I'd like some confirmation on this one!), etc.

I don't find manual shutter speeds to be an issue with the GF1 at all. Mount a manual aperture lens, set the camera to S mode, turn exposure lock on, and then when you spin the exposure compensation wheel it simply changes the shutter speed. Bam.

Oh, and of course always use manual ISO.

For my needs I'm not seeing any missing manual controls on the GF1. A real cinema camera would only adjust the aperture (if even that) during a shot, and you can do this perfectly on the GF1 with a manual lens.

What they really need is a "pirate english" setting.

AVCHD 1080p

AVCHD 1080p

1080p AVCHD is true 1920x1080 or 1440x1080 (depending on what you set) on both systems.

The GF1 does not have 1080p only 720p in AVCHD mode, hence AVCHD Lite, if that can't be hacked to be true 1080p on the GF1 then that would still be a big plus point for the GH1.

Here a Time Lapse I shot with the GF1 in 720p with hacked AVCHD settings from Adammada ( 50,60,60,70,78 )

Native MJPEG 1080p would be great.

If the MJPEG 1080p in both the GH1 and GF1 is interpolated anyway, wouldn't it make more sense to shoot in 720 422 80mbits and then interpolate in post, if you need the 1080p?

This should give you the best of both right?

108mb/s on the GF1

108mb/s on the GF1

Guys I have managed to record in MJPEG at 108mbs/s on my GF1!!!

Uploading test footage to vimeo now.

Also managed to record at 99.2mb/sec for 2 minutes 15 secs
