Getting Music video file under 500mb?

Well I finally finish editing my video and the file is like 500+ mb. The problem is as a non-plus member on Vimeo you can only upload 500mb per week as opposed to the 5Gb for plus members.

Now call me crazy but I'm not paying money for vimeo plus or any website..... Youtube has 1gb file limits I believe so everything is fine over there.

My file was converted to h.264 720p. I really don't see how I can shave or compress more and not lose quality, any help here people?

thanks

use Mpeg stream clip to re encode it, or use compressor.

? Re-encode the original FCP session or the already .mov converted one?

This was shot on my Canon T2i so this post/thread might help someone in the future through google searches.

Why not use the encoding settings in your editor? Vimeo, youtube, exposureroom all cap and reencode their vids at a bitrate of less than 10mbps

I use the x264 encoder which is has a pretty complex learning curve but you can dial in specific numbers like target size and its got the best in class quality vs size.

Compressing a H264 file is quite hard with re-encoding. The best would be to simply render a new file out of your NLE using a lower bitrate (e.g. 5-10 Mbps), that should reduce the size considerably.

If you're doing 720p h.264, then cap the data rate at 5000, you'll get a 150ish mb file, that's fine for Vimeo/Youtube - those sites will reencode anyway.

What is you key-framing set at when you encode from FCP ? You can get away with fairly long spaces between keyframe without seeing any quality loss (dependent on the material of course) - I often set a key frame on every 50-100 frames (with temporal quality set to somewhere above medium).

I don't have Vimeo Plus either. The benefits they work in are sort of silly things that really make it more of a status symbol than a way better service.

How long is the music video?

If it is 2 minutes, you should be able to shave it way down with no significant loss in quality. 2 minutes of H264 compressed video shouldn't be more than 150-200MB.

Look at the settings on this H264 video I uploaded to Vimeo recently.

I'm not sure how you're getting 500+ mb out of 2 minutes.

I export using quicktime.

Best quality, Key frame automatic, encoding best quality

size 1280x720

and Uncheck prepare for internet streaming

I went into the original FCP session and reduced the graphics from 10 bit to 8 bit and that saved me about 40mb...... Now I am under 500mb and at around 480mb but somehow feel that I am still doing something wrong and this video is still taking up to much space. My obvious concern is retaining quality though so what should I do?

& Here is the video. Explicit warning as this is Mature content and basically the filming I do for local "hood" artist. Also this is only my second video I have edited before but I already have so much more on the table. Please excuse the profanity and once again Mature content is within this video (nothing sexual) Just language , Violence and rare use of drugs . I encourage any and all comments
