With that in mind, what would you suggest as a dependable, capable, but not too pricey PC? Which flavor of Windows? Vegas or Premiere Pro?
I've used Premiere up to version 4 on the Mac.[/quote]
XP Pro -- very stable.
If you want a ready-made box, you'd probably want to order one from Dell or HP. Gateway's prices have been going way up while their quality has been going way down, so I wouldn't recommend them at all.
The best and most cost-effective solution is, of course, to build your own -- if you feel comfortable doing that.
Here, you'll find many lovers of Vegas, but the NLE choice really does lie with the user.
And with *any* computer, the stability of said machine has everything to do with how well-maintained it is. I've *never* had a PC crash. Ever.
