Getting 7D very shortly...50mm 1.8 yay or nay?

...I splurged and got the Canon 50mm f1.4. It's $350 vs $100, but it's worth it. Nice long focus throw, incredible DOF, really nice colors and better Bokah.

I've read that for the price the f1.4 is one of the best lenses there is. The same applies to the f1.8, but the f1.4 is just nicer

Love mine. Couldn't be happier with the purchase.

If it sounds like a necessity, it is one.

Trouble is she knows enough that I already have a 50mm that works just fine and I've stated how great a deal it was so this becomes a bit harder convincing her that it is a priority...especially since she knows nothing of the 16' jib that should be arriving any day now...

I think when people post how much they paid for something, they'll occasionally give themselves an after-sale discount.

After sale discount?

Nah, you just have to be patient, i trolled ebay for like 3 months before finding the deal i wanted on my glidecam, same on other pieces to.

I'm all for waiting for a good price but there are limits. You have to ask yourself which is more valuable—time or money.

Just depends on what your schedule is really. If your in between projects no reason not to bargain shop, but if youneed it for a shoot next tuesday, might have to pay a little more.

Its not a cheap hobby by any means, but you can def do it much cheaper than some would have you believe.

;)
