Get Your Files Ready

I'd also like to add that when I watch the movie using QuickTime, View=Normal, it looks pretty good. Viewing at Double or Full, gets real 'artifacty' (Is that a word?). I guess that's to be expected.

Wow, I think u need up to desperately upgrade from FCP3!:

After dropping 1K on a program, I just couldn't justify paying yet more money for upgrades. Plus then I would need upgrade my OS for it all to work together...

Another Update:

Latest settings using QT7 pro (Windows) for 6 minute movie.

H.264, Current, Key Every 24, Data Rate=390Kbs, Quality High
Sound Normal, Rate 24Khz

File size= 50.3MB

The quality is a little better than the last one, but not much, it's not bad though.
I wonder if the 50MB limitation is a hard limitation or if .3MB would be allowed over the 50MB?

So how long is it taking you guys to upload? The ones that have already uploaded? I'm uploading right now, about 276MB, and it looks like it could take 6 hours!

Update: 10/01/2006 12:15am. "Hellebore" upload complete. It took 6 hours.

One question:

There are 2 files we submit, the under 6 minute contest version and the DVD Files.

Can the DVD version of the movie be more than 6 minutes?

also, midnight the first? so this means that we have ALL DAY ON OCTOBER 1ST to upload and then at midnight is the cutoff? i hope this is so... i plan on tomorrow being my big render-day. someone PLEASE tell me or pm me if i am wrong!
-kyle

ps. im more excited than words can describe...

Okay so I've spent the last 6 hours trying to render this .mov file. And, now I'm doing it again God help me.

Things to do while waiting for QTPro to export:
Do laundry
Cut grass
Clean up kitchen
Check work email
Watch news
Check out the happenings at dvxuser.com

Yes, each time I try it it takes about that much time but my problem is that I shot in squeeze mode. And for some reason I can't get QTPro to unsqueeze. However, I think I figured it out - unchecked the maintain aspect ratio box this time. I hope it works.

Add to the list:
Watch Tivo'd Saturday Night Live

But that's it cause it worked! So, now I zip and upload!

Jarred, Ryan's having a tough time with rendering out from FCP, stating 8+ hour render times. He's going to do a quick & dirty render now just to at least get it in the door before the cut off, but we're hoping we can do a higher quality render & get that to you maybe after the fact?
