Servers are almost ready.. You guys that are ready can get your files ready,

You will need to upload a Zip file containing both a 16:9 Mpeg 2 file for the DVD (8000k bitrate), and a H.264 file for streaming.

Streaming file must be less than 50megs, and have a width of no more than 400 pixels.

Name your Zip like this: Movie Name-Your Name-Username.zip

so it will look like this:

Horrorfest-JarredLand-UserJarred.zip

this file should be pretty big, a few hundred megabytes. You will need to upload via FTP.

If you would rather mail them on a CD or DVD in the next couple days, Email me at contact@dvxuser.com and Ill tell you where to send it.

Thanks.

Getting READY Can't wait!

Let me get this straight, the 1st is the LAST day things can be uploaded... correct? Midnight on the 1st is it!

I have a question on the 16:9 requirement. Do you mean we have to uprez our 4:3 project to 16:9 (1.2 pixel aspect ratio), or if we shot 4:3 and blocked for 16:9 (frame aspect ratio) and cropped in post and the rendered out, that is acceptable? (even though its technically 4:3 (.9 pixel aspect ratio; letterboxed to appear 16:9)

Mpeg2 can either be on muxed file (audio and video together) or audio and video seperate. All video should be NTSC (sorry Pal guys)

as for 16:9 .. it either has to be anamorphic, or cropped 16:9. If you send me a 4:3 image (non anamorphic) im gonna just crop it, and i gurantee you I wont do it as nicely as you would.

Yes.. you guys have till midnight the 1st. As always though, its not like im gonna unplug the server at 12:01 am, so your pretty safe if you get it up before i wake up that morning.

Jarred,

Thus far, I have been unable to find the link to upload my Horrorfest entry. Where do I find the link? Thanks.

Cool, Thanks. I was getting nervous that it was obvious to everyone but me. ... Well, actually that may still be the case. :zombie_smiley:

Thank you for the clarification. I'm understanding that .9 pixel aspect ratio is OK as long as it is cropped to 16x9 frame aspect ratio with black bars, correct?

Question – is the H.264 codec the codec for the most recent version of Quicktime? I only ask because some of us cannot view Quicktime files. After Effects does not work properly when the most recent version of Quicktime is installed (a known bug) but I would love to view all of the entries…

I sized down to scale my 1280 x 720 HVX footage, and if im not mistaken, the max size for my video is going to be 400 x 225 ? Is that correct? Kinda small no? I was hoping for atleast iPod sized 640 x ___

No... well yes... it's a problem because it IS small... but I can play my film full-screen from a 400 x 225 file and it looks pretty stinkin' nice still.
