George Villalba presents " NO MIDDLE GROUND"

WOW. This one was amazing! No 35mm adapter? For real? I didn't even notice.

Great script, great editing, fantastic acting, fabulous light. A couple of complaints: 1) some scenes look washed out (this is just because they're right next to eye-candy perfectly lit scenes, and so the less-than-sublime scenes stand out), 2) the music could have used a little bit more oomph. Maybe the score shouldn't have been melodic, but more ambient, like in JDS's "18 Seconds". I think that would have added a whole lot more tension.

Fabulous job. This looks absolutely professional.

Thanks GABRIEL , appreciate the feedback. We're fixing the washout look, that was a CC problem since we did it the same day submission was due. Good point about the music.

thanks

Congratulations! I just watched this one again. Lots of fun. Very high production value. Great acting.

Anyways. Congrats!

Wow!!! Thanks everyone! I'm really happy, I think I can quit my 9-5 job and make movies....just kidding, still need the cash!.

THis is inspiring!

I´m glad you been willing to make comments about the soundtracks...but please tell me, what you mean by oomph???Also, I don´t understand how to make the score less melodic for the action scenes because there´s no melody in there...do you mean the main theme played twice???
I´m very open-minded to any kind of critic and I thank you for this one...but as I had less than two days to compose the score, things are not the way I wanted to be and an improved version is coming soon...tha´s why I´m trying to understend your meanings:Drogar-Happy(DBG):!!!

Two days? That's crazy.

I guess what I meant is that, in my opinion, for entries like this one, a melodic score is distracting. The best way of describing this is by going back to the ILLEGAL trailer posted here several months ago (don't watch the CC'd one, that one came later - the first one they posted had the CRASH soundtrack), http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=71299. The score you hear isn't theirs, but the one used for CRASH. OK, so there might be a singable tune or two during that trailer, but for the most part it's more ambient than melodic. I think that with a short that has such strong images as NO MIDDLE GROUND, ambient scoring adds a whole lot more tension, whereas a melodic one distracts and pulls the viewer out. This is all, of course, my opinion. I'm not against melodic scores - it all depends on what goes with what.

Hopefully this mess of a comment explains what I typed earlier. But don't sweat it. I can only imagine how tough it must be to write music in less than two days.

Special thanks to my boys John and Leo , you guys did an awesome job, it was a hard one but we did it. I told my wife I wanted to participate on the next fest but she went nuts and told me to get a job, :p

peace
