Generic Battery

you will have to use their supplied charger as the one that comes with the camera will not work. You also won't get any of the "smart" communication between camera and battery that you do with the originals. Currently (as far as I am aware) there are no 3rd party batteries for the 7d that do NOT have these limitations.

We've been trying to be able to offer our own dvxuser 7d batteries (as well as hmc150, and gh1), but there just aren't any options to meet our standards at the present time.

As to the quality of the one you listed.... other than the above limitations, can't speak to how well they will work or how long they will last. Buying 3rd party batteries isn't necessarily a bad thing (obviously we sell our own for the dvx, hvx, hpx170, etc)... But, it can be hit or miss... They certainly are not all created equally. Some will suck really hard, others are rock solid and last a long time (like ours :) ).

Thanks for the heads up, i was looking into getting at least one or two batteries for my 7d too.. I saw the 3rd Party Handgrips which seem interesting.. ill probably gett the extra batteries, and then consider the handgrip.

I really like that the handgrip is able to take 6 - AA batteries.. a nice absolute last resort when shooting/filming out on the street.

I'm interested in purchasing 2 generic batteries for my 7D off of Ebay. Here is the link.

They state that it is "high capacity"; however, they do not say how much of a charge it can hold in mAh. That's either a red flag or simply an oversight. You could email the seller; however, if what arrived was not what had been described, you'd be out the cost of return shipping (if you didn't want it).

Duplicate Post... I Purchased a Few about 9 days ago.. they Work Perfectly

They may both be from the same third party manufacturer...but then again, they may not. The only way to really know is to have them in front of you. In any case, good to hear it works well. How much of a charge does it give you?

For $4 more, the Opteka, at 2200 mAh, seems to be a good bet. I've used their batteries and grips in the past and have been more than pleased.
