Thanks guys. This is actually from the Alligator Park in Natchitoches Louisiana. I'm including them in a larger promo video and also it would be a challenge to get the camera to perform well in really harsh direct sunlight (it was about 100 most of the day). I'm actually pretty happy with how much detail I was able to get in both the shadows and highlights in some of the better shots. A lot of this was thanks to having a decent polarizer. I'll never shoot outside with out one again.

I'd love to include some video but I have no where to upload it. I kind of wished I'd shot at a faster shudder speed though. There was way more than enough light for it and it would have made the stills crisper in the feeding shots.

My settings were:

Detail: +5
V Detail: +5
Detail Coring: 0
Chroma Level: 0
Chroma Phase: 0
Color Temp: 0
Gamma: Cinelike D
Matrix: Cinelike

There were one or two shots where I used Cinelike V instead of D since it has less noise and handles blow outs a bit better but had to use D for most stuff since the light was so hot.

Here are a few more if anyone is interested:

At the moment I'm just working on a Promo for The Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts. It's also in Natchitoches and thus the recruitment DVD is going to have a section on the various attractions of Natchitoches. After that's done, I'm thinking of approaching the Tourism Committee and see if they'd like me to do a longer section just on the town or perhaps approach the Alligator society in Louisiana and see if perhaps they'd like a commercial done. The owner of the place (guy in the second to last picture) is a nice guy and says he doesn't mind me shooting the place as long as I mention it buy name and thus he gets free advertising.

Really love the color and look of the 2nd and 3rd photos. Pleasing looking stuff indeed... Ohh that green filty water... hhmmm

How's New Orleans? Got any footage of the quarter and lower wards?

Actually I'm going to be driving up there tommorow or Tuesday. Plan to shoot some stuff at the Quarter, Autobon Park, and possibly the lower wards if I can get a friend to come with me so I know I won't my gear stolen.

I shot some stuff with an FX1 for a documentary based out of LSU right after the flood but I don't know what's become of that footage (shame too since I got some great stuff even though I hate that damn camera).

Dave if you need to shoot other gator stuff, try Klieberts Aligator Farm in Hammond. My cousin Bruce Mitchell and his father-in-law, Harvey Kliebert run it. It's the largest. They do tours (after Katrina they did a lot of military tours) and they sell the meat worldwide. They have had a bunch of movies shot there and MTV did an episode of Road Rules there. I don't think they mind the video cameras on the tour but for something specific, especially staging Bruce said they charge now (such as movies being shot). Just mention my name, Raymond Clark and he or his sister Anita (in the gift shop, tour start area) could help you out. The tour season does end the end of October, which is when we have our family reunions there. Especially if you are going to try to put something together statewide they would be valuable.

Apperciate that a lot. I'll keep it in mind.

I came accrossed this while actually trying to reach the farm. I tried their contact number but it doesn't seem to work... I think maybe cause of the show now. Anyhow.. If he really is your cousin, maybe you could help me. I am currently residing out of country for my husbands job for the next few years. He is turning 50 next year and loves hunting. We are looking to send him gator hunting in Louisiana when we visit a nearby state next year. We don't care who it is with, just as long as they are expierienced as I want him back in one piece...(those photos look scary) Hope this works as I was hoping to send him to the gator farm as well... Thanks...

I just tried the 800 # and it went through to the farm. (800.854.9164). The farms website address is http://www.kliebertgatortours.com/ but at this moment Bruce and his wife are not affiliated with the farm. Bruce's personal website is http://www.brucethealligatorman.com/ and you can try the contact there. Since Swamp People started he runs everything through THC producers and his agent so as not to violate any terms of their contracts. I don't know wat the status is at this point, but Bruce had started building two camps down in the swamp since he is not with the farm anymore. Good luck.

(Yes he really is my cousin. Here is last years family reunion. Me-Bruce-My Brother Mike)
