I have a HFS100 Vixia and use a sennheiser wireless mic with it, and it gives pretty good results. But I use it as a B camera with my Panasonic 150. And try to use the 150 audio for my main feed.
I read on an Amazon review that he was not happy with the compressed audio from the G10 even when he used an external mic. He said there was a little gain when he turned off the wind filter. Not sure what to believe in Amazon reviews.
What has been your experience. Can you use this camera as a run and gun documentary camera and have acceptable audio if you use an external mic with the audio jack?
Even though I have Pro-cameras, I find myself always having a camera like this with me in my truck or out and about.
So again, with an external mic like a rode mic, will the audio be acceptable and usable. Voice would be important to me for the audio quality.
Would love to see any sample video files.
