G1 and A1 DIFFERENCE

Hi, I've been reading about these two cameras on CNET.com.
These are both the editors top choice over 3k.
But the thing is I'm trying to understand why the G1 is double the price of the A1
From what I read the resolution is the same/picture quality, sound is the same, lens is the same. There are only minor differences, so why is the G1 $3,000 more than the A1?
I'm thinking if there are no big differences the A1 is a steal for the price.

G1 add uncompressed HD-SDI output, Genlock, and TC I/O.

Unless you are in a studio environment or syncing multiple cameras, and since you are asking the question, it is safe to say you can get the A1.

superhardrocker - and if you check the market place forum someone there is selling a brand new A1.

the HD-SDI output does that make the quality much better? Is there anyway to buy an HD-SDI adaptor for the A1? And what is "genlock" and "tc i/o"?

I agree with BennisHahn, if you have to ask, the A1 is perfect for you.

The SDI will ouput the same resolution images but in 4:2:2.

genlock - is for live multicam shoots where you will switch from one to the other. It syncs the cams (thats a very lay translation) so when you switch from one to another theres no jump in the picture.

TC IO - stands for Time code in/out. Think of audio in/out and replace audio with timecode.

Brief explanations but should get you thinking in the right direction.

Thanks for the info Ncje,
one more question, the SDI output in 4:2:2, do people ever use that? I was reading some stuff and it said it's only if you edit your footage in a different way?
Anyway, I think i'm safe with the A1!
