G.I.Joe

Bah

Her stuff is pretty good inspite of the Poppy Fluff of of it. Her trainwreck life shouldn't bias the truth of her music. It is what it is. Pop Ido Fluff, but catchy dance music.

Have you ever noticed that if you take her vocal track out of any of her songs, the entire song is still there?

From the director of Van Helsing. That alone is enough to keep me miles away from the thing. Not to get too political, but I don't really know how it will play in these troubled times.

Van Helsing fell on its face for me despite the Worldwide $300,000,000: but the first two MUMMY's were a lot of fun. (Strangely, DEEP RISING wasn't a terrible B + Film.)

I'm a fan of the mummy as well.

I never remember the cartoon, but if they were to make a movie of it, it would need a major re-vamp just to work. I'm assuming this is live action?

Then the question is, will it be for more dark mature audiences (assuming the audiences have grown up), or will it be geared towards kids, trying to sell more of the toys? I'm assuming the second one. This will be for kids, and it's all about the brand, as it has always been. Just like transformers.

They're obviously not trying to make this a great movie, especially since they haven't decided upon the script yet.

It's a business. It's about the money. Always has been, always will be.

Mark my words...this will be crap. The Mummy was at best okay, a poor man's Indiana Jones. And Van Helsing looked like someone devoured a bunch of old horror films, crapped them out and filmed them swirling down the toilet bowl.

It's all about the target demographic / who are you making the movie for?

If it were being made for the now 30 somethings who had GI-Joe stuff in it's prime they would have to be betting on dad's taking their young kids to see a movie that would be inappropriate for young kids to see. This would make us happy but its just not going to happen.

Instead they will make it using the thinnest of plots, a lot of CGI flash, stylized violence, and spandex clad babes. They will pull in current teen-aged boys who probably thought Gi-Joe was gay when they were growing up. It will be another Transformers (Fantastic 4, Stealth) because it has to be. If you push the drama of war in GI-Joe the same way Raimi pushed the drama of Peter Parker, you would make a film that was inappropriate for younger demographics. As a subject, Peter Parker's internal conflict makes those movies work; but war as a subject will get away from a young demographic very quickly.

Bottom line: They are not making this movie for us.

No one ever died in GI Joe. I like Robotech and Battle of Planets/G-Force a little better. Go to comingsoon.net to see the cast and set pics. It looks okay. I will check it out because I'm old school. BTW I did like Transformers. All I wanted to see was a whole lot of explosions and Cars transforming into Big Azz robots, to hell with a story. I watched Generation 1, I know it. can't wait for 2. Summer 09!

They should make fincher do it, can you imagine that? or Imagine if Christopher Knolan <----I think I spelled that wrong. Did I?
