fx1E with p+s technik 35 system - incredible!

Re: fx1E with p+s technik 35 system - incredible!

Squeeze mode on the DVX isn't as sharp as the XL2 for overall raw resolution in a 16x9 DV frame, but it is quite competitive with the FX1 in DV mode (and of course it can't hold a candle to the FX1 when it's in HDV mode, but that's a given, so we won't bother with discussing it).

However, when on a television, Squeeze on the DVX delivers as much resolution (360 lines) as an interlaced TV is capable of displaying safely without interline flicker, and it delivers theoretically as much as an FX1 does in DV mode. So yes you can go to 480 lines with the XL2 using "normal" vertical detail, but you run the same risk of flicker as you get when you use a DVX in 4:3 mode with 24p/thin.

A DVX in Squeeze offers the same resolution, and the same flicker resistance, as a "native 16:9" XL2 in "low" vertical detail mode, which is the setting you're supposed to use on an interlaced television.

And the FX1, because it's an interlaced-only camera, has the same "low detail" flicker filter built-in. So by the numbers, a DVX in squeeze mode should be just as sharp as an FX1 in DV/16x9 mode.

For film transfer the XL2 will have the highest-resolution 16x9 mode between these three (when used in SD mode, obviously the FX1 will stomp when used in HDV mode).

Anyway, if you want to know more about the person and setup inlcuing lenes used and who shot this music video go over to DVinfo.net. look under HDV section...

That shallow depth of field is just jaw dropping.

Guy[/quote]One of the Toronto rental houses was demoing mini35 at the first Toronto DVXUser meeting. Their rate is Canadian $395/day. They have weekly and monthly rates, too.

So I'd expect you can get to around US $300/day, which is not bad compared to a 35mm camera package plus film...
