FS7: FW 4.0 is here!

For me all the settings and LUTs remained like before. But do save new ALL files and such and dont load ones from previous firmware just to be sure.
 
Great news and will definitely update soon but I am annoyed that there is still no tally light on a clear vf display, its still all or nothing which is such a pain. I like to shoot with a clear viewfinder but I also like a little icon to show me that I am in fact rolling.

... just a quick thought if you want a workaround until the time Sony deem it a worthy request and implement it (if ever!).

You can easily and cheaply buy a short, flexible length of fibre-optic cable, and route it from the front (physical) tally light up to the side of the VF, attach a small piece of opaque plastic to the end, and voila, an EVF tally-light.

I did the upgrade from 3.0 to 4.0 - worked fine...

What I do not understand is the implementation of the flexible autofocus...

I did expect that I can - while recording - Change the Focus area (for example with the Joystick on the handgrip)

it seems to me you can just "pre-assign" a different Focus area than the Center before recording...

or am I missing something??
 
would be nice to have 48fps, dial in color temp and support for USB wireless streaming or USB ethernet streaming.

You can already record 48fps in S& Q - only caveat is no audio recorded when doing so.

Dial in color temperature also exists! Set white to preset, and add "WHITE" to your user menu and you can select it by numerical value just like on the 5d. Assuming that's what you mean?


Haven't felt a need for 4.0, which is cool, but i will definitely upgrade if the camera performance in usability is superior. I do like the push and hold s&q to adjust frame rate. Will that allow you to enter HFR and get all the way up to 180 fps? or is that still a menu only thing.

that dial in is for CUSTOM mode, it gray out under CINE.EI SLOG mode

also would be nicer if the menu group gamma mode would show up when select custom mode
rather than finding it in paint. The menu is just plain terrible.

Finally Scopes when HDMI out is enabled, woot!
I talked to Alister Chapman at an event last week and even he thought this would never be possible. Thanks Sony, this was my biggest gripe with the FS7.
