C100: Funny short I shot with the C100/Hyperdeck Shuttle 2

This was my first time shooting with the C100. Overall I was very happy with it. I had only two real issues with the camera and one small issue. First, the 8 bit, when pushed in post would tend to band a little, and it was ProRes HQ footage from the Hyperdeck Shuttle 2. Second, attaching accessories, especially a follow focus can be an issue. The camera's design is not very helpful. That little foot in the front was a pain in the ass. The small issue was why the hell doesn't it shot 24psf? it would have been nice to not have to remove the pulldown in post. That said overall I enjoyed using the C100 and will continue to rent one from time to time. The sensor on this camera is amazing. Anyway I hope you like the film.

Exceptional!

Everything so good that I forgot it was on YouTube.
And yea ... way "out there" ... but is a great way.

Thanks Steve_Karl! As for YouTube, It's all in the compression file you upload. Some compression schemes helps for when YouTube does there compression, others fight against the YouTube compression so once they do their compression it looks really bad. You just need to know what you are doing. I've seen some pretty great looking YouTube stuff.

check out this one that brian @ berkey system is doing, its pretty compact!
Thanks again Mestizo Devon. I know Brian, he lives about 30 minutes from me. Nate I'll introduce you to Brian sometime if you want to meet him to check out his baseplates. The C100 "foot" issue is still there tho.

That was crazy, but I did watch the entire short film! As far as the story line, I was expecting an alien voice from the women too....

Have you shot with a FS700 before?

Reason I ask is that my friends company has one that we shoot on a lot...but I just saw the C100 is on sale this weekend at Samys for $5500 with NO tax. So...my friend is seriously considering selling his FS700 and getting the C100.

We are going to weigh the pros and cons tomorrow morning. But I have not used a C100...just the C300 and 500 with a codex.

I would stick with the FS700. It has more bells and whistles. It's like comparing apples to oranges. The C100 does have a slightly better image in my opinion, but with the issues it has added to the more options the FS700 gives you, I would just stick with the FS700. I'm personally waiting on my Blackmagic Cinema Camera to ship. I think the cost and benefits of the BMCC out weighs almosta any camera, but that's me.
