FUJINON-TV ZOOM LENS H6×12.5R & Blue Painters Tape

Just thought I'd mention that if you want to play around with a fast zoom lens an interesting one to try is the Fujinon H6x125R.

I got it to mount properly using some blue painters tape. Because it's been hella cold here in Philly I've only had an opportunity to use it for still samples and had not done any real film test shooting yet.

Over all, same issues as many have mentioned about c-mount zooms using the m 4/3 sensor (vignetting, pee hole effect, loss of res with 2x zoom) but if you just want to play around and don't mind the usual issues, it's small in size, fast and fun to shoot with and you can still get some nice shots even with drawbacks. Just FYI for folks!

At what focal length does the corner vignetting stop or how wide can you go before vignetting starts?
Maybe if you tried a different manufacturer's C-mount adapter , you wouldn't need to use tape ?

thx for sharing,

Hey monkeyking,

I've tried both the RJ and the Hawk Peng m 4/3 c-mount adapter and you must remove the black rear lens cap holder on the Fujinon zoom to make the near-thread diameter fit the mount and obtain infinity focus.

The c-mount m 4/3 adapters have issues with lenses that have a near-thread diameter larger than 37.2mm. You can get it to fit somewhat but you will not get infinity focus. That's why with the tape fix you can fit the mount and get infinity focus no problem.

You can see in the pics that I posted that at 12.5mm with no digital zoom engaged there is vignetting and you'll see it still there even at 75mm. So basically vignetting is there through out the zoom range. (You can click on the pics and get a higher rez image to get more comparison info.)

With the 2x digital zoom you bypass vignetting and peephole effect but you have light and contrast loss and rez loss as mentioned by many here.

Again, we all know the down sides with using c-mount zooms on the GH1. I just wanted to post a way to get this zoom to work with your GH1 if you are interested in playing around and can work within its limitations.
