Hey guys, just wondered if anyone is currently running a glidecam setup with a fs700 and odyssey 7q? My hd2000 doesn't take the weight with the Odyssey and I was just wondering what other people were doing? It's a shame to have to loose the Odyssey when I want moving glidecam shots

Yes. I use the HD4000. Works great.

For finesse i have drilled holes in the center pole and pulled a 3G SDI cable through it.

What do you mean it wont take the Odyssey? Does the center pole fall out from below? Drill a hole through it and attach a farmers bolt to keep it from falling...

See this pic for reference. Ive no idea what the actual name is, but the idea is a plug with a circle of metal to keep it from falling out again.

The plugs im talking about is the two cirkles to the left from the power extractor (yellow thing).

Thanks for that Martin. That picture seems to be of a tractor though. I would love to see a picture of your setup if you can post it? When I say it doesn't work for me I mean that I have the Glidecam HD2000 so it doesn't support the weight of the FS700 and Odyssey. I am thinking of upgrading to the HD4000 so I can still use the Odyssey with it though. I just needed to know if this was possible and what peoples setups are! Thanks

It looks something like this.

The weight becomes very much so i recommend the X-10 arm and vest to go with the HD 4000.

I am selling mine, by the way. I dont use it nearly enough for the type of jobs i am doing.

Little used HD 4000, X-10 arm and vest. I can also throw in the nice wheeled bag i have purchased for it.

$1900 with free shipping. Costs around 2900 new.

Edit: I may be interested in your HD 2000 for my A7s...

Hi Martin, do you have any pictures of your fs700 and Odyssey rigged on the HD4000? I appreciate the offer but I'm not really interested in purchasing the arm and vest and it's far too much work to rig that all up. Just looking to balance up my FS700 and Odyssey and shoot a few smooth slow motion steadycam style shots.

No, i dont. But it looks just like the picture in my previous post.

The 7Q is just a monitor with 2 SSD`s in it.

I would be interested to see how you've rigged it up and with what clamps you've secured the Odyssey to the HD4000.

Anyone else out there using a different setup with their Odyssey 7q and Fs700?

No clamps.

I use 1/4 20 screws and mount a little ballhead instead of the counter weights on one of the sides.

Maybe thats why your HD 2000 cannot handle the setup, if you put too much weight in addition to the counter weights?

Another option is to run a long SDI cable and keep your Odyssey 7Q in your backpack while shooting on the glidecam.
