FS700, DJI Ronin and Odyssey 7Q

Another reason why I'm preferring the A7s on the ronin over the fs700.... i have all this extra weight I can put on when needed. The shoot required for an additional fill light, and wireless sound. on the fs700 the sound may have fit, but the additional light would not have been possible.

I have nearly the same approach to your setup (7Q on top of fs700).... with a few small differences no teradek and Im powering the 7Q with a sony plate on the side. Have you got it balanced nicely..? do you hear the motors at all? l seem to be really close... but I can still hear the motors working a little bit. My tilt NEVER seems to stay in place- How is your footage? thanks for paving the way.

Everything is working nicely. The app numbers are around zero(-4 to 4) no noticeable strain on the motors. Regarding your tilt, make sure to tighten the camera baseplate buckle on the ronin with the Allen wrench. I experienced a couple times that it was loose.
I just finished an intro for a national broadcaster, in which we used the ronin, fs700 and 7Q for high speed recording 200 frames. Everything looks really beautiful.

ps be sure the balance out the fourth axis on the ronin.

I ordered one and it arrived yesterday. I did a quick test on an urban soccer field near my studio. I still have to find better settings for pan in solo shooter mode. It was a 7min walk to the field and back, I was shooting 20 mins of footage in about one hour. My longest take was 3:30mins. After that hour I was exhausted ;-) The guys were so kind and allowed me to shoot them but they were playing first of all soccer so I could not direct them for my shots. Therefor I used only the 50mm lens. SEL35F18 might be a good choice.
Here the set up: SEL50F18 mostly in F 8 and 11, auto focus worked pretty well. 4K2HD in Slog2,

Not long enough. 2-3 mins and then a small break. Hopefully it will get better with time. Doing a 200 frame shoot on Tuesday for a national broadcaster, it's all about planning and timing. Make sure everything is in order before you pick up "the heavy devil".

Do you think a glide cam arm with mod would be worth the money for longer shooting times?

Hi guys. I got a question: i use to have in all my supports (tripods, sliders, crane, etc) a quick release plate; a Manfrotto one, to easily move my FS700 and don´t have to, unscrew it and attach to a differents plates. Can i put in the Ronin this Manfrotto base plate or this will mean a huge problem with the balance.
This is the plate: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/554151-REG/Manfrotto_357_357_Pro_Quick_Release.html
Thanks for your advices.
Regards!

The Ronin baseplate has six holes but no thread. I don't know you Manfrotto part in detail but if you are able to screw it on top of the baseplate it could work

Thanks so much Clermond for your response. Yes, i figured that i could attach my Manfrotto to the Ronin holes. My worry is if this "elevation" of the camera maybe could messin up the balance.
thanks again

Yep, i ordered this morning, i will come back for feedback.

But for sure i prefer this solution than unmount the motor like xl arms.

Hi Guys,

I ordered the Cinemilled extension arms for the Ronin, it's super easy to install and I can balance the FS700 with the 7Q with my Canon 35L up to 135L and 24-70ii the system is perfect, more lighter than my older one with counter weight !

Look the space we have behind the cam now for the SDI cable :)
