FS700 - All Quiet on the Eastern Front?

Fair enough. I obviously don't know what's going on behind closed doors. But they are the largest dealer in Europe, and you'd expect them to have regular contact with their reps. Did they really not know they were going to miss their advertised shipping date until that date had passed?

"Hello Sony, it's CVP here. You know those FS700s you were supposed to be sending us yesterday, well they haven't arrived."
"Oh yeah, sorry about that. We won't be sending them for another 7 weeks."
"OK. No worries. I'll call again in 7 weeks. Bye."

:) Who knows, but when i originally spoke to a few different dealers a while back they all warned me about Sonys ETAs and schedules being a bit dubious and gave me all sorts of stories about the EX1, EX3 etc,. Yes it's surprising but i have no idea why, i think sony UK is quite independent of sony in japan. Perhaps there are last minute changes (danstone mentioned in another thread about the reflection issue "being fixed" implying that they're still doing it).

It will be interesting to see who here, gets the first one

I finally preordered and the last word was 'In July', so i better start saving/selling kids.

cheers
Paul

UK based CVP Group (@CVPgroup) are getting the first batch of Sony FS700s early next week. Sweet!

So yeah, I'm hoping if the UK gets it early next week, the USA will soon follow :)

Could be that Europe is getting stuff earlier than the US. Wouldn´t be the first time..That is unless the euro doesn´t collapse on monday after the greek vote ;)

Weird Phillip Bloom said the low light noise performance is almost negligible, who to believe? If i'm plopping down 8k I need to wait and see more low light tests I guess meh..

It´s feels like it´s more the shape of the noise that´s bad. I just watched some of my FS100 footage that was shot at ISO 2000 and there is noise, but it´s sooo fine it doesn´t annoy me.

I guess it comes down to do I need to plop down an extra 4k for this camera? Or do I spend it on gear and lenses for the 100, hmmm have to weigh it out...

Well I figure I get to sell my $400 Variable ND filter and FS700 comes with a better top handle id pay for. Add on cinegamma upgrade, 4k sensor and high frame rates you could previously only get on a $30k+ camera. Totally seems worth it. And I'm pretty sure its not quite a $4k difference, FS100 should go for a bit more than $4k used, right?

Soo hard not to like the 700 it just seems so versatile. I hope more test footage for low light comes out to make a proper judgment =)

Could this be for people who place their order now?

My source at Sony says that these should be shipping next week.... We'll see!

I don't think so.. as I've got this e-mail from B&H yesterday:

"One items from this purchase are still out of stock as we haven't
yet received the merchandise from our supplier... "
so... ? We just have to wait...

But look: One person on russian forum talking about that for future 4K RAW option with FS-700 we have to use Sony SRMASTER Portable Recorder SRR1 for cameras with HD-SDI Interface ( http://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-videorecorders/cat-recsrmaster/product-SRR1/ ) for $11000 ... and Sony SSD-drives S55 or S25 type.. for $4000 each... I cannot belive it.. it's far too expensive for $8000 FS-700 camera ..don't you think so ??

Can#t imagine that.
If Sony would try that stunt on someone that bought a $8000 camera, that would be a historic marketing fail.

I like it ... and later will get a motor from Kessler for this device ...

Also.. you asked once about big Wheels for your dolly... did you ever look to Kessler K-Pod™ 6" All-Terrain Wheels ??

I've got the set of 3 of them long time ago .. and they are really good and cost only $120 ... http://www.kesslercrane.com/product-p/100084.htm

I have them on my old cheap dolly... you can see the size differense between 3" wheels and 6" wheels on that pic below ... ( but I will move it to my new dolly I've got ) :) -->

I hope you can find it usefull.. :)
