FS700 - All Quiet on the Eastern Front?

Given that the FS700 is a little over three-weeks away from launch, I'm really surprised Sony hasn't released a new FS700 video composed of footage from a production model (could they still be working on it?), or given more details in regards to the 4K 12-bit RAW (possibly price-range, work-flow, etc). The curiosity is eating me up :)

Does anyone have any idea of an actual shipping date? I've heard between June and July, but hoping earlier than later.

Well, they've gone from one extreme to the other. They now have it as expected 30 July. That makes it difficult to believe that they genuinely expected to have it by 6 June. I can't help but think it was simply a device to encourage people to pre-order early.

Yeah, B&H pushed back the date. Now it says July 15th on the Body only. On the Body+Lens, it's still listed as July 1st.

I hope it doesn't become a Canon 1D-X style debacle where it keeps getting delayed over and over again.

Sigh...... :(

Is there a reason they sell the Kit lens package first? Is it just to squeeze a few extra bucks from people? Grumble.... as I have too many lenses as it is, and don't really need anymore.

I guess I'll have to wait an extra 2 weeks according to B&H. I hope that's all I have to wait :( Might be good anyways, just too see what bugs the first wave cameras might have.

I've been tweeting to @SonyProUSA about when the FS700 will come out and this was their reply:

@TonyReale Hi Tony, don't have a specific date to give you, but we know that the FS700 will ship this month.

Not that it is a solid guarantee, but it seems like Sony is committed to a June release.

That was the date given by their sony rep, i don't think there's anything underhand going on. Apparently this is quite normal for sony as things change around!

cheers

Fair enough. I obviously don't know what's going on behind closed doors. But they are the largest dealer in Europe, and you'd expect them to have regular contact with their reps. Did they really not know they were going to miss their advertised shipping date until that date had passed?

"Hello Sony, it's CVP here. You know those FS700s you were supposed to be sending us yesterday, well they haven't arrived."
"Oh yeah, sorry about that. We won't be sending them for another 7 weeks."
"OK. No worries. I'll call again in 7 weeks. Bye."

After reading these posts here I got a bit worried. i contacted my New Zealand supplier and they have confirmed I will have a body only FS700 on June 18th

I'm curious to know how the F7 is performing with her latest firmware concerning detail resolution compared to the C300 in 24fps... To what i have seen, i didn't feel the same "magic" touch that with in the c300, even if this one has some limits in the highlight...

Looking forward your opinion

The zone plates posted on dvinfo.net are very confusing. No one can make sense of it, it seems. The OLPF might be more agressive than the FS100s but that makes no sense at all if the want to extract 4k from that sensor which is possible when you look at the FS700 photo Frank posted.
