FS7: FS7 With SELP18200?

I think its due to limited processing power that goes to HFR and 4K instead on lens correction.

If that is true, then they should be ashamed. Processing power is so cheap these days.

They should at least give us software correction in CBrowse.

Y'all be cool,
Robert

i shot one short film on the selp18105 f4 in uhd xavc-l and after quick grading i watched it at youtube 4k compression
out of premiere cc on my samsung curved uhd 65" and it looked amazing
wonderfull colors, crisp sharp also in the wideshots
and even after down sizing to hd it was awesome
so whats it all about not beeing qualified for uhd and highspeed?
i could not see anything bad
love my selp 18105 even if it could be more faster

That's interesting . i guess I'll test it. It is supposed to have bad distortion and other lens errors which need to be corrected electronically by the camera. Supposedly in 4K and HFR the camera no longer has the processing power available to devote to the lens. I'll try it.

I have the FS700 and recently tested the 18-105 at 240fps
and surprisingly it looked just fine. I never even tested the lens
at HFR the first week I had it because I had heard it
would be distorted at HFR. I guess the lesson is to test
for yourself. I don't have a FS7 so can't test in 4k but
it would be awesome if it worked in 4k as well.

I'm pretty sure (don't have notes with me) that Juan Martinez said that for the FS7, the 18-105 doesn't correct for RAW output (how could it?) or for 60 fps in UHD. It corrects for everything else.

Ok I just tested. The lens has pretty sever pincushioning which I didn't even notice till just now.

Set yourself up with an image that you will see it on a doorway or even looking at a ceiling molding . anything that has rectangles. It seemed worse to me around Z28 .
You'll notice that the lines are distorted. Go into system> Lens and turn distortion to auto . The camera rests and goes on and off. Bingo the distortion is gone. It goes off if you go into frame rates higher than 60 ( i.e. Full scan) and/or into 4K.
I didn't see any other issues. Seemed equally sharp but maybe there are also chromatic errors. might not always bother you, but its pretty bad.

Thanks for mentioning this because I didn't know you were supposed to put the Distortion Auto On when using this lens in the first place., Ha! now we know :-)

Jesus this camera is a learning experience. Good thing I got in December before i screwed up a bunch of jobs!

Strange as the distortion correction seems to work on the FS700 in frame rates higher than 60, all the way up to 240fps.
But the FS7 is using a different codec (XAVC) so maybe that is the difference? Anyways, I've
been wondering what the deal is with the lens and how it works on the FS7 so thanks for the details.
