I bought my Sigma from DigitalRev with Canon Mount for $749.00 with free shipping. I feel there are much more lenses I can use with Canon Mount. I did have to pay around 30.00 Duty fee to come to the US. Check the lens price on their site though. It may be cheaper now.
I bought my A7S from them. Quick delivery (to Germany). No problems.DigitalRev is significantly cheaper than elsewhere:
Have any of you fine folks bought from them? If so, how was the experience?
I guess I'm lucky. Mine stays in focus throughout the zoom range.
I just bought the Sigma 24-105 last week. So far I like it after 1 shoot. The image quality is great,
For $799 there are going to be trade-offs of course. That's why cinema lenses are $20K+ for a good zoom.
You're lucky indeed. I haven't heard of anyone getting a parfocal copy. Maybe I should return mine and try another...
If I can get a parfocal Sigma 24-105 that would be good as I can get it in a Nikon mount. When I do streaming I often zoom wide during audience participation times and the short breaks. Since we are live I prefer to not have to touch the focus.
With my Sigma, i can set focus zoomed in, and it looks parfocal when i zoom out. Zoom back in, and subject is in focus.
But i cant really set focus on the wide end, and expect anything to really be in focus when i zoom in.
Ive heard people badmouth the Sigma for being anything but parfocal, so i guess you would need to try a few copies before you get lucky? Mine is very nice, and close to parfocal.
So, my dear Friends, what would you advise considering all I said in this thread about my special needs and limitations:
1. CANON EF-S 17-55MM F2.8 in the cheap Commlite adapter (which is said to be compatible)
-or
2. CANON EF 24-70 F4.0 L in the more expensive Metabones SpeedBooster Ultra?
Please advise!
