FS5: FS5 generic battery

Hello, has anyone had success with a generic battery for the Sony FS5 that they could recommend?

Recommend getting 3rd party batteries from one of the better manufacturers, such as SWIT, or Hawk-Woods. Lithium batteries have started many fires, & cheaply built ones are especially hazardous.

I did read the popular Watson brand does not work on the FS5 or FS7.

Pobably best if i stick with Sony's and don't risk a problem on a shoot. Just wish their BPU-60's were not so expensive

Thanks for the link. Seems its a hit or miss with the Watson, as on the B&H site people have reported problems with them and the FS5/7

Unfortunately Amazon won't ship these batteries to Australia. I can find some Chinese brands on eBay but could take a few weeks to arrive. Seems I'm stuck with buying a genuine Sony battery for AU$370. Damn i owned heaps of these when back in the EX1 days.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I ended up spending extra and settling on a genuine sony battery just for peace of mind :)

bengiles ye seen a bunch of those on eBay, very cheap. Great it works well.

I was just too anxious that one of those cheapies might die on me on a shoot so I bought a genuine Sony so its one less thing to think about. Kinda like buying cheap SD cards, the cheap ones f**k up. So i stick to reputable brands from reputable sellers.

Will be interesting on seeing how long the charge lasts over time. Plse keep me informed :)

WOW nearly twice the weight of the Sony BP-U60, kinda defeats the purpose to load that beastly heavy battery on such a light camera like the FS5:shocked:

Yeah, but like I said, if you have it on sticks for an all day shoot, you're covered for the price of a BP-U60.

I bought batteries recommendation bengiles.... THIS IS NOT OK ..on my FS5 reset always watch... IS NOT OK..and I bought two pieces .. f**k :-)

Bought one of these last week:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00BUK4064?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I ran a test on it last night and it recorded 3 hrs, 32 mins - showing full battery info etc.

Charged very quickly today on the standard FS7 charger station.

Paid peanuts - am secretly hoping it turns out to be a superlatively talented monkey...
