FS100 successor at Photokina?

Yeah, let's see... it could have XLRs, internal 4k, maybe internal NDs, record for more than 30min, maybe have SDI-out, have a decent form factor... the A7s is neat, but has definite limitations.

I would guess no change in form factor, probability of..

addition of ND 5/10

addition of SDI 3/10

addition of raw 1/10

If it really takes a cue from the canon c series, it may have a vertical form, no more bulging nd wheel and awkward long loupe. Id like that.

My guess is that Sony will come with one or even two models. As they already have all the key components to make featured packed cameras and they have so many S35 cameras made in the past, they will put most features even in the FS-line. In reality the gap between PMW cameras and FS will shrink.

Just look at the PXW-X70 that have so many great things going for it. Maybe a new VG-X70 camera with E-mount, S35 sensor, S-LOG2 and XAVC will materialize or they made the FS-line into a different form.

With XAVC and LOG gamma curves becoming standard even in consumer cameras the gate is open for all their cameras to reach a higher level.

What the line is missing is an ergonomic camera to compete with the C line. FS100/700 F5 F55 are lovely but not great for documentary/wedding shooting, you need a camcorder form factor for that. A succesor for the FS100 price slot would really make since. Give us a camcorder form factor. Like the X70, with a s35 sensor, internal NDs, internal 4K XAVC and S-log. That would really compete with the C line and complete their line-up. A7s for small B cam with incredible low-light, FS100 successor for weddings/docs/broadcast, FS700 for Super slow motion and raw, F5/F55 for high-end cinema.

That's very promising news about it taking design cues from Canon's C-line. Would love to see it include a decently high quality EVF/monitor combo like the C300, a solid handle/controller that controls most run and gun shooting functions (Ala C300 again) would be incredible also. I'm assuming it will shoot 8-bit internally, hopefully at very least 50mbps 4:2:2. But if they limit the HDMI/SDI output to 8bit, I think I'll lose interest pretty quickly.

I'm getting ready to eat crown now :/ if the specs are true wow. Slog3 and 180fps new evf, XAVC not s and more

Hmm, would the FS100 successor arrive via the XDCAM family though? I guess if they're gunning to replace the C300 in the TV market... maybe?

Otherwise, promising features - NDs, dual slot memory (QXD though), 4K XAVC. Am I seeing an EVF at the top left?

Looks... interesting, if a little strange to the eye for the first time. It's almost like a small Ursa, haha. Not seeing the Cinema Eos design influence really.

Edit: Can anyone else remember the other specs from that twitter post? Seems to have been taken down.

Looks expensive. Guess it's the FS700 successor with XD cards, pricewise. Only if the F5 get and official 4k update, and this new camera only record in lower bitrate because else in places the f5 out of the market.

To me that looks more like an F5 than like an FS100.

It has the plastic fantastic feel of the 100/700

It has been 'obvious' that a 4k 'wedding cinematography' camera would be coming.

Does it replace the 5/55 - probably no raw and maybe some connectors (genlock in) missing to make it 'unsuitable' for OBs and the like.

Will it be 'better' than the 5/55
-lighter
-speed booster
-af

so IMO yes!

Curvy!

Does it have RAW output?

I'm surprised it doesn't have full frame, i thought that would be an ideal way for Sony to differentiate professional with prosumer. I'm not sure how many professional camera folk would actually want FF, whereas the prosumer and indie crowd loves it.

cheers

Oh great...
This is the time of the year, again, when i'll be stuck everyday on SonyAlphaRumors to get the details bits by bits ;)
Looks great to me!

I'm very curious how sony will manage to place this cleverly between the fs700 and f5.

Doesn't look like an FS100 successor to me at all too. This is something bigger. I don't see them replacing the FS700 now either, it's only just getting quite popular now. Perhaps a separate XDCAM line designed specifically for broadcast and C300 area, with 4K compressed and camcorder design. Keep raw and 240p for the FS700. That's my bet.
