FS100 HD playback via component output?

Hi, I need to know if I will be able to playback Full and downconverted HD via the component output on my HVX200? WIll playback audio simultaneously?.

I'm trying to output to a digibeta via component, suggestions?.

It won't display HD from the FireStore. Maybe downconverted, I haven't tried, but I know that you can't monitor FireStore clips in HD from the component outputs. The HVX doesn't have the ability to input a firewire signal and output an HD signal at the same time.
 
You unfortunately CANNOT playback through Component HD (You can record the clip to your P2 and play it through bt that is cumbersome.
You CAN however play it back directly through the S-Video (or Composite) port. Not HD of course but GREAT for reference.

I decided not to go with the firestore, I contacted specc omm about the cineporter and will be out realistically first quarter of 07, not too many options right now with the firestore.

I wrote 3 or more emails to a lady at focus and she wasn't very clear about this matter, she never mentioned that you cannot playback HD thru the component output.

Thanks a lot guys, you help me to save $1800.

What you can do is edit your firestore footage in a NLE like FCP or other NLE compatible with the HVX, and then export it back to the camera using p2 cards has "Tapes". However, running time, in 1080i, is 17 minutes for 2 8gb. (This is what I do for most presentations and when I need to master to tape- haven't done nothing over 17 min in lengh.)
 
I gotta tell you, I LOVE my firestore. I too wish it would play back through the component out or better yet straight through firewire into DVRackHD. But unfortunately it doesnt. It is still a fantastic tool and to be able to record over 100min onto one drive without the cumbersome task of constantly swapping P2s is without question worth the money. To be able to play back through the s-Video is geat for reference, and for me Im always going to be editing the footage not going to tape saves both time and money. Im not sure why you would go to DigiBeta. You can always edit in HD and master to it once its edited from your Edit program.
 
You should be able to play back into DVRACK HD. You just need to hook the computer to the DV port and not the computer port on the firestore.
 
Hi Sunstream, we have to output via at least component (lack of sdi output), we are recording DVCpro 50 because we need to get ths clips out to a Discreet smoke, that system do not accept anything than signal over the cable, try to export from FCP to quicktime and import it into the smoke, will take years.

I will post a new thread on what is teh best workflow with P2, firestore, etc to smokes.

Ive been unsuccessful in playing from the Firestore directly to HDRack in anything other than DV. If You have been able to play HD directly from the Firestore into HDRack let me know. Of course if Im playing DV out Im plugged into the correct port, so It must be a data thing? If you can play DVCPro directly out of tyhe Firestore then that would be an alternate capture option for jobedo so long as the Discreet can take in a DVCPro50 Firewire Stream.

To confirm , yes you can capture fs-100 data stream with DVRack HD.

Connect one end of the firewire to FS-100 DV I/O port (not the Computer I/O).

Connect the other end to your computer.

Turn on your FS1-100.
Keep it at DVCPro Rec mode (not DD-drive)

Run DVRack 2.0 HD.

Under the Device drop down menu , select " Panasonic mod_0 camcorder DV" (or something similar that represents your FS-100).

Playback your clips on the FS-100 and at the same time when you capture or RECORD from DVRack.

That is very encouraging, I will try again, thanks. I dont need it for recording as much as just viewing HD playback right from the firestore on my laptop.
