FS100 Firmware upgrade or BS?

Found this post on another forum. First time I ever heard any specifics but the guy only had 1 post on the site. Has anyone heard any specifics from Sony or any other reputable source?


Sony will release a firmware update to the NEX FS100

Coming around the New Year Sony will release a firmware update to the NEX FS100.

I will have details soon of what exactly what will be updated but i do know the following.

The camera will work on both 50 and 60hz systems, will have shutter angle settings, will

have additional aspect ratio overlays for 2.35, 1.85, 1.66:1, and will have expanded focus settings for 4X and 8X.

User picture profile settings will be recordable to memory cards.

Anyway, if this a REAL FS100 Firmware upgrade - we will have it ... soon :) if not - we gonna shoot with what we have :)

I wish to get some kind of algorithm for autofocusing system in FS -100 , wich will help to FOLLOW the object, and keep it in focus ... to PREVENT focus jump on background when something in background have a lot of contrast ... this focus jump make me crazy sometimes :( ... I hope it's possible - as we have something as "face detection" in other cameras ... and will be good, if Sony make even MORE new SUPER-FAST autofocus lenses for E-mount... Like 2Sony SEL24F18Z 24 mm f/1.8 E-Mount Carl Zeiss, which I wait to try in December ....

Sorry for my English, but I hope you see what I mean .. :)

Rick! Sorry to bother you.. but would you be so kind to LIST "some of the bugs it has" ?? I'd like to see if I had the same ... about if it's "true" : I think it's possible.. as Sony have to REACT to Canon "intercontinental missile" C-300 :2vrolijk_08:
 
I doubt they are going to add a bunch of new features like that. And heck, the C300 has no autofocus, so not like they have anything to add there! :P

There is a wishlist on here for the FS100 I started, take a look through it, most of the bugs are listed there.
 
Andy Shipsides from Abel Cine confirmed on his twitter account that the firmware including PAL (50 hz) support and support for the new Alpha adapter will be out in January. He did not hint anything about extra features, but I think Mark Formar is a trustable source.
 
It would be nice as a registered user if Sony would send emails to owners directly announcing any news affecting the model owned. I don't know why Sony or Canon or any other company thinks it is a good idea to maintain a gap between themselves and customers.

Sony has indicated that they will be releasing a firmware upgrade towards the end of the year or early 2011. We know at the minimum 24p will be added to PAL models.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if Sony disables AF and AE on E-mount lenses since $20k Canon C300 doesn't support it with their lenses. Ok ok...that last statement was a joke.
