FS100 chroma key example

Hi, everyone – Here is a piece I did for a local non-profit where I used the FS100 and some greenscreening. Overall, I felt like it performed as good or better than the EX1. My lighting might not have been perfect, but the codec seemed to handle the green screen well. If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

Thanks!
Kyle

Looked quite ok... I think you took the saturation a bit too far. The reds were really taking off there :) I also did a green screen recently and not having tried it before, I now know how tough it can be to get it right. I think my backlights were too hot and I lost the edges here and there, but yours came out quite well. Maybe a little soft here and there if you pause the frames, but unnoticeable when rolling.

Good work.

Out of the box red saturates like crazy on the FS100. It has to be toned down. I've noticed A LOT of FS100 users complaining about this as well. We've been tuning ours because we have a series we are working on that has TONS of red.

Pertaining to the keying, looked great, excellent job!

Rick,

I have noticed this as well. What is the deal with this? The reds just look blocky. I went into the picture profiles and
dialed back the red in the color depth menu. It was just crazy in the default.....still not sure exactly what was going
on there, but the first couple times I shot with the FS100.....OMG!

Yeah, I am not sure either, haha. In fact, before our next shoot, me and the editor are getting together to tone down the reds some more as well. He was having some trouble with them being so saturated and when I played with the footage, I saw the same thing. Someone at Sony loves some red! :)

Thanks, everyone! Good call on the reds. What is the best way, in Final Cut or Magic Bullet, to change the saturation of the red channel while not affecting the other channels?

Have a good one,
Kyle

The main reason why I got my first panasonic camera when I started shooting again. As an editor I just dislike sony images because of it oversaturating reds that it becomes a murkey color. Very displeasing. Now on the f3 images ...it actually looks very contained. But it could be that the operators dialed the reds down.
Im looking to get a fs100 soon ...so looks like we will have to knock some red off in post to

This is a really old vid... didn't have a great profile.

this profile and the firmware update have a much more realistic color rendering...

Good, now keeping with the thread title, let's see some chroma key examples with the firmware upgrade!
