FS-4 HD and the XH-A1

Does anyone know if the firestore FS-4 HD (not the pro or canon specific models) will work with the XH-A1 properly? I've been reading into tapeless recording lately, and it really seems like a great way to go, and just use the miniDV's as backups instead. It seems like I don't need the extra storage or features that the pro models offer, and also with the price of the standard one being cheaper, I was hoping that these devices are compatible.
 
It'll record in m2t but not FCP-friendly QT HDV format, so if your NLE is Premiere Pro or Vegas it should work fine, but for FCP users they need native QT HDV support in order to avoid needing to convert m2t's into an FCP editable codec.
 
i use the fs-4 proHD with a canon h1 and i had to purchase the qt patch upgrade and it works perfect. i also use it with my dvx and have used it with vx2100, trv900 and xl1. mangler <3's firestore drive.
 
$39 for upgrade? What a downer :( It's their business to make it compatible with all major NLEs. It should be free.
