FS-100 at 1080p?

I am sorry if this has been answered before but I can't find it anywhere.

Shooting 1080/24p on the HVX involves a pulldown process done later in post but I was wondering if the FS-100 Firestore Drive was capable of recording in 1080/24PN mode by doing the pulldown process in real-time as it records to the drive. Any help would be appreciated!

we are still waiting for version 3 of the firmware for native frame recording, it should be soon but nobody seems to know when.

Still a bug to work out, but soon...

I hate to keep saying "soon", but you can have it now, with the bugs, or later, when it works. These things take time to get right.

I havent run into any space problems with it so far 100gigs is plenty, just battery issues. Need to buy the extended batt or just another!

Yes, the extended battery SHOULD be standard on this unit. It outlasts the HVX battery (the one from here at DVXuser.com). And 100GB is PLENTY of space. I shoot long ass shots, and it's rare I ever come anywhere close to filling it up.

It's like 12.5-8GB P2 cards, or 6.25-16GB P2 cards (if they ever actually come out at a resonable price). Can you buy 12-8GB cards for the price of an FS-100?

Anyway, the extended life battery really is a must have for the FS-100. I'd strongly discourage anyone from buying the FS-100 without it. And then you have the short life battery it comes with as back up!

You are doing porn??????
I wish, I'd be better off financially if I were! No, long interviews in situations where we're not allowed to move around or anything. Interviews with some very isolated folks who don't trust outsiders much.

Not to mention some other personal projects that require long shooting times.

I've also done Time Lapse experiments where my fully charged HVX battery died long before my FS extended life battery did. This is in isolated winderness where there's no AC outlet to plug into. And I don't waste my boat batteries on such things. I need them to crank up the engine when it's time to go home!

Cause if I can't crank it up, I'll be sitting there for weeks waiting to be found. The Atchafalya swamps are NOT a place to get lost in! No cell phone serivce, Marine radios don't pick up anything out there, you're about as isolated as you can get. If it took an hour to get to the spot with a motor, I ain't "paddling" a boat that size that far back to the dock!

All of which makes for a good location to shoot porn in, now that I think about it... if anyone wants to hire me to do porn, as long as you have the lawyers on retainer, drop me a line!
