AC130: Frequent Card Errors During Formatting

Lately I've been experiencing a lot of errors while formatting SDHC cards in my AC130. I've never had an error once a card is formatted, and I've seen no errors or problems using the same cards in the HMC150, or in torture-testing them via a computer. The same card will sometimes format after a second try in the 130 (then work fine), sometimes not. Sometimes if i try to format a second time, I get an error that says I have to replace the battery or connect AC Power to recover. All very strange.

1) Anyone experiencing anything similar?

2) The AC130 takes much, much longer to format a card than the HMC150 (haven't timed it yet, but I'd guess 5-10 times longer... on the order of a minute per card). Is this common?

3) The folder structure after a card format is a little different from the HMC150... there are two additional folders (DCIM and MISC, IIRC) at the same level as the PRIVATE folder. I haven't had any trouble switching cards formatted in one camera to the other. Has anyone else? Is this a practice that's either OKd or not recommended?

1) Haven't had any formatting issues, but I've only formatted 10 or 12 cards in the camera.

2) Yup, my 160 takes a lot longer than my HMC150. I just assumed it was doing a more thorough formatting job. I just tested out a Sandisk 32GB, that had nothing on it and it took 12 seconds to reformat.

3) Not sure what the different folders are for, DCIM is for stills I believe, maybe it's to make the file structure similar across different cameras. But I would never use the card in another camera without formatting it in that camera. I keep my HMC150 cards separate from my 160 cards. The only card issue I've ever had was a card that was formatted on a different camera.

Cheers

Sorry for the double post. Just recorded a bunch of clip to the same card, and the format length seems to be related to the amount of media on the card.

Yeah formatting a card, in my 130, takes about a 45-60 seconds, for me. my HMC80 is a matter of a few seconds.
I have not had what you are talking about but I had recently a card which was unreadable in my friend's HMC80 but would format and record in my 130 without a problem.
