Ptpiz and dvlisarrr,
I feel weird answering questions regarding work that's not my own (I only wish I could take credit for it!) but I will give what answers I can.
He used the century optics 0.7X lens (a rental, I believe) for some shots (mostly wide shots, but also for some close ups) and actually zoomed in part way so that there was very little barrel distortion. I don't know why a zoomed in wide angle looks better than no wide angle and no zoom, but he said he preferred the look and the video speaks for itself. Some shots also required the wide angle lens and these shots were some of my favorites when I saw them on the lcd. They had a very cool look to them. I would buy the 0.7X lens because you can zoom through it.
The entire thing was shot in 4:3 mode and cropped later, btw. No anamorphic lens, no squeeze mode, no letterboxing.
Ptpiz, the anamorphic adapter improves resolution by a decent amount (definitely visible in screen captures, probably hard to tell on standard definition tvs.) I've never used one, only seen screen captures...there should be some at this site, I think. Before I'd buy one, though, I'd buy a tripod (I bought a bogen 501 head after seeing what it could do during this shoot, but the 503 is even better), a shotgun mic, some xlr cables, and a boom stick (not needed for music videos, of course but good to have). A dolly or steadicam never hurts either, but they're not as necessary. Another cool trick that was used in this video was white balancing to slightly off-white objects. Lots of messing with scene file modes, too, if I recall correctly.
