GH4 free still RAW editor?

I'll admit I RARELY EVER do any still photography, other then on phone, less on GH4. Still, wondering is there is FREE Raw picture editor that is nice, kinda easy, so I can play with RAW stills?
Don't want no PHOTOSHOP monthly charges, or other expensive software for stills that are not my thang, just some newbie thing is fine. Zero budget for just playing around, you know?

FYI I usually use PHOTOSCAPE quick, idiot buttons to alter stills. On GH4, I resort to Creative "TOY" effect for many still to add character.
 
SILKYPIX comes with the GH4, but don’t know anyone who uses it.

Appears it currently ships with a copy of SILKYPIX Developer Studio 4.1 SE.
 
I've never used it, and I hear there's a bit of a learning curve, but I'm sure there's tutorials all over the place for GIMP. Free, fully featured photoshop alternative.
 
Thanks guys. I'll check those out. I think I still have GIMP installed too - never thought of that.

Discovered PHOTOSCAPE says it opens RAW, but it doesnt see GH4 RAW pics.

Also tried one called RAW THERAPEE - seems well featured - and thinking maybe futzing with RAW is just too time consuming for my playtime interests.
 
thanks hotchkiss, I'll check into darktable also.

Are any of these kinda if simplistic, like, with quick button alterations? I don't plan to learn raw editing to any depth. Granted, maybe RAW stills are not for me.
