Freaky....real freaky

Very cool technology. When it slipped on the ice, and managed to right itself, was amazing.

But, man, is that thing loud when it's not on the tether! I'm guessing it won't be used to sneak-up on the enemy or for spying missions. :)

Yeah, everyone runs away, because they think the guy from texas chainsaw masacre is coming :D And it is similar freaky as well...

But I guess they probably can provide it with a more silent energy source in the future.

maybe not for that but you could use it as a distraction..... and the send real people to spy.....

That thing is f-In COOL. It traverses most of those enviroments a lot better than I could. Look out Isaac Asimov.

I saw this on future weapons I think. It's actually used to carry and transport gear, to keep the weight on the soilders down to minimum. Also, so they don't have to go between two locations just to get equipment... they just send that across, espcially if somebody pinned down somewhere and they need a certain weapon, ect. It's part of the "battlefield of the future". UAV, UCAV, UGV, UCGV, ect.

Unimpressed...

- Mikko ... is very impressed, though he's seen it before.

I saw a deer slip on the road once up in South Dakota - the Darpa thing did a better job of getting back on its feet. Creepy, creepy creepy.

Making the thing dog-like in appearance definitely elicits a feeling of sympathy when that guy kicks it. It is a miracle of programming that something that top-heavy can stay on its feet.

My dogs are small, but think they're very big... watch out!
