Frame rates of D7000

Anybody heard anything about a possible firmware update to allow for overcrank with the D7000?

I realize this is probably a pipe dream, but with the release of the D5100, I was thinking maybe, just maybe, they'd throw us D7000 owners a little love.

I don't even know if it's possible. Some have speculated in the past that frame rates might be dictated by hardware, not software.

Yeah, I don't think the Nikon processing can do 60p yet. Also...Nikon seems to only do firmware updates to fix issues...not add features.

Adding 1080 30p and 25p would be wonderful. Im sure they can do it- maybe we all need to complain about it more : )

Why are people so obsesed with 60p?
Sure it´s a great add on to have, but:
- I'd trade nice skintones and pleasant DR and colours vs 60p anytime
- none of the 720p60 DSLRs footage looks good because it´s too low res
- as an example for people discrediting a camera for a lack of 60p: go check imdb top 10 rated movies and let me know if you find any films that had a scene shot at 50-60p. none?

Hunter, nice to see you here. Did you get a D7000? Have you intercut footages from your GH2 and D7000 yet? Just cursious. As for framerates, I would like to see Nikon add 1080p 60i which I can convert to 24p, 30p, or 60p if needed.

Yes, I bought a d7000 last week- mainly because I knew Mac got one so I knew it must be worth a look. I really like it. Love the feel of the body and the color/dynamic range is very impressive.
I havent had the chance intercut any gh2 with d7000 yet. After comparing some footage, I think for sharpness- they should intercut fine- for dynamic range the d7000 is a huge jump over the gh2- especially in the highlights- so more contrast would be needed to match the gh2. Not planning on intercutting them unless I have to for some reason.

Björn Nordgren at Nikon Nordic said it's possible that the D7000 will get 25p and probably 30p too I guess.

Has anyone heard of, or even better 'used' any third party firmware updates/hacks to allow 1080/25p recording with the D7000?

Kind of hard to do useable slowmo without it.

I've been working with the D7000 again lately. It is nice. I do miss the frame rate options from Canon. But none of these cameras most apparent short comings are the frame rates, it is their nasty bit rate and codec.

Well, I for one can see a huge difference between 24 and 30fps.
That is the main reason I bought a D5100
The second is the articulating LCD, very useful indeed.

I will be first in line if the D400 has 60fps.
I do not care for the cinema look or rolling shutters.
I would like to capture some faster moving objects instead.
