GH13 Frame rate problems with 100mb/s GH-1 Hack`

I've been shooting with the hacked gh-1 for quite sometime and love the results I get.

But I have noticed some choppy movement when shooting in the 24p mode with the 100mb/s max latitude patch. I could be shooting at 25p, but I'm not quite positive at this point how to select the different modes in camera.

Also, while using the same hack, I've not been able to shoot 60fps with the 720p/60p mode. I shoot with the proper shutter speed but only get 30fps and 60i.

If anyone could help sort these things out for me I would really appreciate it. I have a big project for film school to shoot, and I plan to use the GH-1 as a "b-cam" while shooting with the RED. I just want to make sure I have everything in shape before I try to pass off the GH-1 as RED footage, at least to the audience.

Go back and read the thread for that patch, and you will discover that it is not capable of shooting 720/60P. something had to be given up to get those higher native bit rates at 24P, so the SH mode was changed to 720/30P.
Also, this patch shoots in 60i with a reverse telecine 3:2 pull-down(if I'm not mistaken). So, you might not be transcoding it properly, or, you think it's native 24P-it's not.
You can also read about the Ptools software, and the different settings. Just click around, and the menu's will drop down, and you can see what boxes are checked for the patch you selected. the 100mb/sec patch is normally a 24P(in a 60i wrapper) patch-so unless you changed something-it's 24P. you can't change from 24P to 25P in camera.

If the footage looks choppy, check your shutter speed(1/50th works well), and pan slower, or much faster.

I think you're probably using the wrong patch. There are at least two other patches that come to mind that produce great native 24P footage. They can be found in the GH1 hacks section. one is blackout/powell patch, and i think the other is Cbrandin-but I'm not completely sure.

In SH 720p mode that's correct, the GH1 100Mbps Max Latitude Patch works only at PAL 25p or NTSC 29.97p frame rates. However, both 24p and 25p FHD 1080p modes are non-interlaced and are not packaged in 50i or 60i bitstreams.

If you need 720p50 or 720p60 and don't need Native 24/25p, I recommend the 75Mbps High Reliability Patch. For both 720p50/60 and Native 24/25p combined in a single patch, I recommend the 55Mbps Blackout-Powell Patch. You can find links to these patches in my signature below.
