Frame Rate Hack/ Camera Problems

Having read a lot about this I just thought I would ask if anyone out there has actually had issues after using the frame rate hack......I would like to know this before trying it!

I have not actually seen anything suggesting this just lots of..."it could ruin your camera!"

I don't see how it could ruin your camera. You might catch a glitch which ruins the footage you're shooting at the time, though.

But it's not a function that's supported by Panasonic in any way.
 
Won't ruin anything *as far as I've been able to determine*, but I found some scary behavior when trying to use 25fps on the US HVX200. Powering off and back on will fix it.
 
avoid changing the number in the scene file for the frame rate to 15 and you'll be safe.

15 is 25p.

I've shot some stuff with the variable framerates and I haven't had any problems with it. The only thing is..Panasonic doesn't certify the extra frame rates.

I've not had any problems from the few that I use. I think they've been in use since August '06.

i cant live without them.........

ive only had 1 or 2 small problems, nothing "clip repair" didnt solve.
 
I just purchased an HVX200a and tried the frame hack. But when I powered down and restarted the camera and switched over to Film Cam it was still in 2 FRAME mode. I had to go back into the Text Edit and change the number back to 0 to get the Default setting, but the Text in the SCENEX file still says 2 Frame. The Camera is back to Default, but I'm not sure how to "Reset" the camera to Factory settings. Any ideas?

You can reset the individual scene file settings in the scene file menu.

Getting away from the hacked frame rate should be as easy as changing the frame rate in the scene file menu.
 
Frame Rates are stored in the Scene file menu. If you save your scene file to the HVX's internal memory, powering down and powering back up will not reset the frame rate. You have to change your scene file dial, to a scene that has a normal frame rate.

If you want to reset all internal scene files to factory default, you need to initialize the sd card (found in the scene file menu).
